as: Rajveer

Rajveer is a charmer who not only appeals to girls but his charisma also magnetizes to one and all. He is very close to his grand-mother, who he lovingly calls GM. Rajveer has no ambition and believes in living life to the fullest. He is a spendthrift and loves traveling a lot. One day in order to fulfill his grand-mother’s desire he lands up in Amritsar with two of his friends to pray for a suitable wife for himself. Rajveer has a very definite take on love, he believes love has no boundaries and thinks that one cannot just love one woman throughout their lifetime till one day he meets Chandni and falls in love with her. This brings out a change in him and he begins to discover love in its truest sense. One trait that puts Rajveer apart from others is, that for love he would do anything, he would go out of his way to show his love and sacrifice everything for that person. This is evident in his love for his grand-mother.

as: Roshan Ramlal Chawla

Roshan Ramlal Chawla is a strapping old man and the head of the Chawla family. Gandhian, linguist and a man of principles, he is a creature of habit. The patriarch of the family, lalaji is extremely proud of his two prized possessions – his family and his sweet meat business. A gold – medalist from Khalsa college, he is well learned and articulate unlike his wife Guneeta Kaur, who hates reading or writing. He is a patriarch and Chandni is his source of his strength. He thinks that most of the men in the house are incompetent especially Sameer, whose irresponsible behaviour drives him up the wall. Furthermore, Girish’s over pampering Sameer infuriates him further. He has very simple guiding principles in his life - ‘never count money that has gone, instead count what you have’ and ‘taking loan is a sin – never borrow money and statuses.’ and his three sacred laws are: 1. Alcohol is a social necessity, not a sport 2. Loans are evil – never borrow money, things or status 3. It it’s a chawla, it belons with us

as: Guneeta Ramlal Chawla

Lalaji’s wife and life, Guneeta is someone Ramlal meets in the refugee camp during the partition. The bond they share is forged under strife but it’s a bond of love so strong that it doesn’t require expression. The mother figure in the house and of the family, Guneeta isn’t your typical self sacrificing, quiet, simpering woman. She plays a very critical role in most of the decision making in the house as all the family members including Lalaji value her judgment. She’s a lady with spunk and someone who is the perfect match for her husband – albeit entirely opposite in temperament, likes and dislikes. Unlike Ramlal, who is well educated, guneeta is illiterate. But she has a penchant for news. Therefore, every morning her husband Ramlal reads out the newspaper to her. Both husband and wife thrive on pulling each other’s leg and boast of the most alive equation. Guneeta has a solution to the most complex problems and that saves the day for her family when in difficulty. She believes that harmony and optimism is the key to happiness in the family.
