#SahiHai: Mauli's lines in 'Silsila..' showcased the PATRIARCHAL & BIASED society we live in!

Talk about an impact, and this speaks volumes..

It is an immense rarity, that a TV show, that is barely launched a couple of days ago finds a spot in our #SahiHai category right away.

We are talking about the newly launched Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka starring Shakti Arora, Drashti Dhami, Abhinav Shukla and Aditi Sharma. The show has merely telecast two episodes so far, but already finds a place in giving a SahiHai moment for a specific reason.

We also be presenting a full-fledged review this Sunday, but before that let's talk about this amazing moment in the show-

Firstly, Aditi Sharma's character of Mauli is absolute goals

Since frame one of episode one, Mauli (Aditi Sharma) is quite literally the perfect woman that a man can desire to be with. She is loving and caring, but most importantly she is an independent working woman who prioritizes work above anything; especially because she is a doctor.

Her husband Kunal (Shakti Arora) is also of equal support

Unlike your dubious plotlines, Kunal is of equal support and understanding to Mauli for two major reasons - A. He is a doctor himself, so, he understands the prerequisites of losing out on personal joys that come with the profession and B. because, he truly and immensely loves her and is ready to let go of a lot of things just like a married couple should.

Patriarchy showcased, but with subtlety

Okay, so to be clear, this show is definitely not about feminism as a base plotline and doesn't even hint that any occasion whatsoever. But, the subtle dialogues and flowing pace of one particular scene took the cake above all others.

The confrontation between Nilesh and Kunal-Mauli stole the show

The scene was an intense one, where Nilesh's bitter truth about cheating on his wife was revealed to everyone. Kunal, being the doting husband and righteous man he is (so far) is trying to put some sense into Nilesh and tell him that no matter what, you cannot just cheat on your wife. Nilesh is trying to make some valid points and arguments, as Mauli comes in.

Mauli's way of explaining Nilesh is what was the highlight of the scene, where she isn't bluntly being an imposing feminist, but infact making some valid points. Beginning from how she tells him that even though Nilesh has complaints about his wife Neha not giving him time owing to her profession, it is unfair to state that she doesn't have the same wants a wife would have in a marriage.

This is when Nilesh states that it isn't just work that is a problem, but when she is at home, she is all engrossed with the kids and the family and is never happy nor smiling at all.

Here's when the BIG moment comes in..

This is royally answered by Mauli, who remarks and adds sarcasm to her point by saying that, "wow, this is nice! A woman does household work, takes care of the kids and does her office work too. And God forbid, if she gets busy in multi-tasking all this or commits a small mistake, then that gives the husband a justified reason to romance someone else and that is the perfect excuse for him."

This scene and this specific dialogue speaks volumes about marriages in specifically urban cities suffer. Cheating, infidelity and anything related to the same is in no way justified, but there is always two sides to a coin. Mauli's above statement is the apt presentation of the patriarchal society we live in, where even in a marriage, a woman is multi-tasking all the aspects in her life. Why? Because, she is EXPECTED to! It is presumed and expected of a woman to handle the house in all aspects possible and also work outside, 'if she wants to.' Amidst all this, if she, being the human being commits a mistake, it gives the husband the 'escape' or justification to fool around outside! Rather hypocrite of us to be!

The Show Will Be Showcasing Exactly The Same Ahead

Of course we know that this is exactly what is going to happen ahead in the show with Kunal and Nandini (Drashti Dhami) facing the same dilemma against Mauli, but considering the maturity with which this scene was portrayed, we expect a rational approach to that later.

Reality Shown In The Simplest Of Ways

Not only the scene, but the latter part of the scene, where Mauli gets insecure after Nilesh marks that she herself is facing a busy lifestyle and not able to give time to Kunal; was the dash of reality that Mauli needed. We aren't saying otherwise of what we believe in, but we are saying to make a marriage work, both partners have to be equally accepting and willing to change according to the circumstances. In that scenario, your lifestyle may not be as lavish as you want it to be, but the love and intimacy will be. You can chose either, because it is radically impossible to balance both those factors.

I'm yet to join full-time work this month and I might get married in a year or so when I would juggle both personal and professional life which would only be possible with an understnading husband. I would totally avoid this show like plague as it would spread negativity in my dreams and hopes of a wonderful life.

Mauli was absolutely right!!!!

Why have kids if you want all your wife's attention!!!!First the guys have kids and get the wife busy in the household duties and then claim their wives don't have time!!!

So that gives them the right to cheat!!!Wow!!!

It is sad her husband will turn out to be a slimeball as well!!!

She is a doctor and currently he is proud of her and their relationship is perfect!!!!

But Nandini will break it and stab the very friend who helped her!!!!
