Sony TV's Pehredaar Piya Ki garnered more controversies than numbers for its 'socially unacceptable' story line about an 18 year old girl getting married to a 9 year old boy. After many petitions, clarifications and other ordeals, the show was abruptly pulled off air, but not before the makers announced a second season.
What is the promo about:
Set in the backdrop of the beautiful locales of a huge palace, Diya is seen showing a now grown up Ratan whom she addresses as Dada Hukum, the place. They come to a pond and Diya tells Ratan that it was built by his Grandfather.
To this, Ratan apologises to his late Dadaji and says he can't swim and falls from where they are standing into the pond. Diya jumps into the pond to save him, and that's when Ratan reveals that he purposely jumped into the pond.
He goes on to gloat about how he his habituated to playing with his life just when a crocodile emerges from the waters. Diya saves Ratan and informs him that saving him is her habit. Irritated, she leaves Ratan standing there while he keeps looking at her.
What we liked:
From the looks of the promo, the scale of the show continues to be as grand and ostentatious as it can get, the show being shot at original locales.
Tejasswi's character Diya came across as more mature, composed and even stronger than ever.
What we did not like:
Rohit Suchanti seems to be coming across as a little dull in comparison to Tejasswi, who outshines him in the entire promo. Until and unless, Rohit does not buck up, we can totally see Tejasswi overshadow him.
From what the promo portrays, the story still seems more like Pehredaar Piya Ki and about Diya protecting Ratan. With the show being renamed as Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya, we would really love to see that new rishta and not piya's pehredaari.
