It is the reign of Finite shows!

Year 2014 saw the idiot box come up with intelligent and intriguing concepts.

Pertaining to 2014, Indian television has seen a lot of reformation with the kind of content it has to provide to its viewers. With the continuing trend of saas-bahu sagas, a few of the makers have tried their hands in coming up with out of the box concepts. Here are a few of the shows that have managed to make a special place in their hearts.

Read on!

Star Plus' Ek Hasina Thi (Cinevistaas) is one of the finest and best show that the viewers have come across since a long time now considering Indian television operas. Good thing that always worked in favor of the show is that each episode brought in a lot of suspense that left the audience curious. Moreover, be it the production house or the actors or any other person on the set, all of them chose to remain tight lipped which led to no leakage of news in media. The show since its commencement was thoroughly not only loved by the Indian viewers but also international audience. The impact of the show was so much that it managed to secure first position for itself every week. The show marked the highest TRP on its last episode.

Ek Hasina Thi's next season, will be a challenge to live up to the audience' expectation with the show setting an outstanding benchmark.

Laut Aao Trisha on Life OK -

Life OK's Laut Aao Trisha (24 Frames) is another show having the concept of finite series which has blown out the viewers with its bold execution and picturisation. Talking about the show, it may not cater to the masses; but the niche audience that the show has always been the backbone of the makers as well as the artists. Laut Aao Trisha adopted by a Spanish TV series Donde Este Elisa has proved to be a charmer to the viewers with the theme of a girl Trisha going missing and the entire Swaika family struggling to find Trisha. This bold story has left the audience in shock as each page of the show unveils; learning about the family members itself are behind kidnapping Trisha. Pleasing ensemble with excellent portrayal has been the USP of the show.

EVEREST on Star Plus -

Star Plus' Everest (Ashutosh Gowarikar Productions Private Limited) is needless to mention goes by its name. The show based on Everest is something that the viewers have not seen so far and that itself is the USP of the show. What makes the show appealing is the scenery and the beauty that the camera has captured while shooting for the show. It is the story of Anjali whose father is always discouraging and never has the faith on her that she can rise up and make a name for herself. Anjali gets dedicated to accomplish her mission ie to climb the Everest to prove that she is capable of doing something. It is the journey of Anjali as she climbs the Everest. A show one of its kind.

Mahakumbh on Life OK -

Up next on the list is Life OK's Mahakumbh (Arvind Babbal Productions) which has recently been launched. But that does not matter to the makers because it needs just a week to make viewers fall in love with the show. The promos of the show before the launch of the show itself grabbed a lot of eyeballs - girls in specific (for obvious reasons). The backdrop of the story is where a few foreigners are in search of Amrit and learns that Rudra's father knows regarding the same. There comes certain situations where Rudra has to part ways from his parents owing to their death. Eventually he gets a home to live. The story revolves around the super natural powers that Rudra has. This same reason also brings his life to trouble. The leap in the show is yet to happen and the it has already secured first position on Life OK. Three months guarantee and the viewers has to fall in love with the show.

Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Ye on Life OK -

Ajeeb Daastan Hai Ye, another show under the banner of Balaji Telefilms', marks the debut of gorgeous Bollywood beauty Sonali Bendre on the small screen. The initial plot of the series is similar to the US TV series The Good Show. The show is about a woman named Shobha is happy with her family and life, the way it is shaping. But one day she is left devastated due to her politician husband. Besides helping her family, she also has to deal with the hardships that she faces while working. The show touches the issue of infidelity as well.  This is for the first time that the viewers are witnessing such a finite show produced by Balaji Telefilms. Just the fact of finite series backed up with Balaji is the USP of the show.

It indeed an era of finite serials. This way the quality of the story will be maintained, and audience will be able to see good stories that reflect the society.

Everest, EHT and LAT are the best! Hope there are more finite shows and they end those long running saas bahu shows that have nothing new to offer.
