The Television Fraternity and Bollywood both took strongly to social media to condemn the rape and murder of an 8 year old girl Asifa in Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir. If the case was not brutal enough, it has taken a religious turn which has led to widespread unrest between the Hindus and the Muslims in the area.
The girl was kidnapped, drugged and raped repeatedly and all of this took place inside the premises of a temple. After raping her for over 3-4 days consecutively, she was strangled with her own dupatta followed by smashing her head to a stone. The girl who was kidnapped on January 10th, was found dead in the forest on January 15th.
And while the entire nation has been rallying justice for Asifa, Ekta Kapoor, who recently tweeted in support of a gathering happening at Carter Road Bandra, found herself being accused for 'promoting patriarchy'.
A twitter user replied to Ekta that she should start making progressive TV content and that she has promoted patriarchy.
And Ekta gave the person a befitting reply.
