Sony TV is back with the second promo of their ambitious war drama Porus and we couldn't be more excited. While the first promo offered us a glimpse into the grandeur of the show, the second promo gives us an insight into what Porus is all about and how his story unfolds.

Here's what we thought about it.

What is the promo about:

The promo starts with visuals of two countries - India and Greece. While India is shown to be culturally rich and blessed, the citizens of Greece are shown to be in a very deprived and dire state of affairs.

Both Queens of the respective kingdoms are shown to be expecting heirs. While the queen of Greece is shown to being attended to by her servants, the Queen in India is shown to be trapped and is forced to deliver her child inside a well. The voiceover then describes how precisely at the very same time, in two different corners of the world not two people, but two different thoughts took birth.

The voiceover elaborates how while one of the babies shone in the east, the baby in west became the reason for sorrow.

Enters Sikander, who is described as someone who always desired to conquer and rule over the whole world.

We are introduced to Porus, who is described as someone who always desired to protect his motherland's borders.

The promo concludes with the voiceover of what will happen when Porus will become the fate' of Sikander.

What We Liked:

The makers have managed to maintain the grandeur and standard of vfx that they set with their first promo.

In the two minute long promo, the makers have sufficiently elaborated on most of the key characters and their backstory, giving a decent plot insight and clarity to viewers.

What We Did Not Like:

While the overall visuals are impressive, Laksh Lalwani's Porus look and Rohit Purohit's Alexander look did have glitches...

Laksh Lalwani's wig looks ill fitted and fake. We wish his look was better blended with his character.

As for Rohit Purohit's look, his headgear also looks ill fitted and Rohit himself looks uncomfortable sporting it.

In a 2 minute long promo, something is bound to be missed out, which is fine. The makers have lived up to our expectations and we can say that they have actually gone up. And now, we can not wait for this epic war drama to go on-air.

I wonder if other important historical figures who were contemporary of porus will be shown or not like chanakya, chandragupta maurya, selucus, dhananda, taxila University. They can't left out chanakaya especially when he was very active that time in his mission of sending Alexander back.

From bollywood to tellywood it is all about tampering historical facts to paint a pseudohistory to appease the jingoistic notions. Y to be so butt hurt about which kings lost to which yeah I knw dis is the trp formula. <br/> It was all in the history..y can't they show sticking to historical facts rather than making it about patriotism especially when this story is set in BC period.

Historical fiction or not , hope this show won't be reduced to level of Chandra nandini, means absolutely no history and protagonist worshipping his wife to the point of madness. Maharaja puru was very famous among Macedonians for his bravery so much so that even chandragupta maurya was compared to him by scholars. A little bit of love story is okay as puru indeed loved his wife very much while Alex was not in love. But please let the show be confined to battle of hydaspas only.

If the first look had impressed me I must confess that this promo took away that impression. I understand that the story will carry an Indian perspective to Battle of Hydaspes but certainly not give the makers a right to look down upon or vilify the Greeks. Theirs too was a great culture and it shouldn't be maligned in anyway even of the story teller is from the opposite end of the spectrum. Also there are too many factual inaccuracies in the promo itself. For one Porus and Alexander weren't of the same age. Porus was older than Alexander. Two his Indian name wasn't Puru but Parvatkar. Puru was his father. Also the costumes and settings is inappropriate. Alexander seemed to be using Urdu words, a language invented in India in 1300 A.D. while the story is set in 350 B.C. These kind of things take away from the show. Even if we are to agree that it is a historical fiction, it doesn't give makers a right to tamper with history. All in all I am massively disappointed. I can see which route this show will go. It is so sad that a legend such as Alexander is being vilified just appease some stupid notion that says in order to evoke pride in your history you must malign other's. Parvatkar is a great in his own right, he doesn't need his opponent to be vilified so that he can be raised on a pedestal.

As a history lover I must say the promo impressed me. The thing I liked the most is costumes. They so represent the era. Casting is fantastic and sets look magnificent. The thing I didn't like is obviously distortion of history because puru and Alexander were not of same age. Puru was elder than Alex and his sons died in battle of hydaspas.
