Is a censor board for Television really required?
A face-off between Ekta Kapoor and Pahlaj Nihalani is imminent!

A lot of film producers recently questioned the authorities that if there is a censor board for Films, why is there no such board for TV producers? The authorities have responded with a 'there may soon be a regulatory board' that will monitor TV content as well!
In conversation with a news portal, the CBFC chief Palhaj Nihalani said that Television has only Self-Censorship. This liberty is being taken too far. Recent shows have crossed all boundaries of decency. A crime serial like
Crime Patrol shows a man raping his own daughter.
Ekta Kapoor made serials showing a woman getting married repeatedly. Film producers want to know why there is censorship only for cinema. Either abolish censorship completely or lay down censor guidelines for television.
Get set TV producers, as Draconian rules, may soon be applied to your shows! But do TV shows really need a censor board?
Firstly, taking into consideration the remarks made by Pahlaj Nihalani about Crime patrol, it is a crime based show! What the show does is that it creates re-enactments of crimes that happened in reality! The show aims at creating an awareness about crimes that happen and which can happen to us as well! This show is highly informative and a study has also proven that such shows reduce the crime rates by putting fear into the minds of culprits and victims too! Just because incest is a taboo in India and that no one opens about, it is not wrong to show it in order to make people aware of it! The show airs in the late night slot and hence they can show slightly mature content and the content that they are showing is not even made up!
About the
Ekta Kapoor show, why can't she show a woman getting married multiple times? Just because it's against Indian culture? The authorities need to step into the real world and see this for themselves. Its a woman's choice if she wants to marry 10 different men! She can marry whoever she wishes to stay with and we feel that it's completely okay to show such content on Television!
With reference to context, TV producer Rajan Shahi said,"All the major GEC channels have a strong and respective SNP, which keeps track of our episodes. Before going on air, all the episodes get monitored by them. Every channel has a respective disciplinary board, which looks into each and every episode and if they find something wrong, they cut those portions. The people heading over Bollywood are not clear in what kind of films are correct. How are they planning to work it in TV?"
First films and now Television shows are targetted by Barbaric authorities, who wish to impose 'their' ideologies on the audience. They will decide what's wrong content and what's right content for a population of approximately 1,236,344,631 mature Indians who have the ability to decide what to watch and not to watch!
I guess the concerning authorities are too much into the 'Log Kya Kahenge' thought and stressing over what other people would say about our country. They probably think that such content will put India in a bad light! We live in a country that gave the world Khajuraho and Kamasutra for God's sake! All we have to say is 'Logon ko jo dekhna hai dekhne do, har banda kuch na kuch alag kahega!'
And that's how a society works, people with different opinions coming together!

Those who are saying people have no choice I disagree because whenever producers bring something good it gets very low trp.. Like kuch rang pyaar ke aise bhi, ek duje ke vaaste, bade bhaiya ki dulhaniya etc, which are actually good compared to other long running shows... But this shows are getting very low trps and on the other hand shows like kumkum bhagya, diya bati, swaragini which are utter crap but getting high trps.. So basically producers don't have choices because at the end they're doing business... So producers have no choice other than making supernatural shows, SaaS-bahu crap... Because viewers like to watch this types of shows only..So I think the max viewers are not so wise...and only viewers can change the Indian TV industry buy rejecting ghatiya, nonsense, illogical shows and embracesing good shows

i think ppl are wise enough to decide what to watch in what not but at the some time ppl don't hv much choice to watch...all saas bahu shows need a lot of changes few years ago all Ekta shows were same but now all shows are same be it ekta 's shows or other shows all r following their one same favorite track n their way of story telling be it Gul Khan ,Ekta ,Tewary brothers ,rashmi sharma shows all hv their same boring tracks in all their shows...all r repeating some stories with little changes again & again in their each shows which is so boring...but unfortunately actors hv to do their show for their income n we watch it bcoz of our favorites n not hving much options although tv shows are changing in the last 2 years n there were some really good n different shows too like finite shows Everest ,airline ,Dehleez , Gul mohar grand thanks to SP for them which had good story ,execution n actors but unfortunately less trps... Ppl need to watch such shows so makers should start making such nice shows if we want changes we need to make changes too i would to say to all fans follow ur favorite tv actor/actress' show to see him/ her n their fab performances but follow the new & fresh shows too so the new n different shows get good trps n makers start making such shows too... show are getting destroyed bcoz of trps there were some nice shows like Beintehaa & Na bole tum na maine & Ek tha raja ek thi rani which was so nice shows but later it got destroyed bcoz of trps & this is what is happening with many other shows too bcoz of trps there is some really nice show like Ek Duje ke vaaste n kuch rang pyaar ki i just hope these shows don't get destroyed for trps or long run

Cant comment for all shows but yes there should be a censorship, a bigg boss, crime petrol, adaalat and C.I.D appointed for all Ekta mata shows to stop her from torturing us with her same lengthy nonsense dramas...one can have a brain hemorrhage after confusion of multiple marriages of a heroine, 5 or 6 plastic surgeries, and still being portrayed as abla nari...

the writer of this article failed to note that it is not only in India that these shows are being viewed,other people from other parts of the world gets to watch these shows,i for example i watch these shows via our local pay cable satellite t.v and we are not complaining about these shows, do they want us to start watching the boring part of the shows?,since i do not want that to happen, i say no to t.v censorship.

I guess, people of India can't decide what to watch because they have left no options. every channel and every single show has same story and same leaps. where we are living in world of science and technology, Indian TV is still showing all possible mythologies and superstitions. and now a days.. there is a big wave of shows with this content. under the world of creative freedom, hamari history and sanskiriti tod marod ke dikhayi jaa rahi hain.. Television is a medium which has reached in grass root level of India.. so.. there is big responsibility on every creator of show. aaj kal waise bhi hamare culture ke baare mein padhne mein aaj ke generation ko dilchaspi nahin hain.. aise mein jab mythological shows bante hain toh unki responsibility hain ke sach pahonchaye.. come on guys.. puri duniya dekh rahi hain.. Wo kya sochenge ke aisa huya tha hamare yaha.. and the irony is ke jo shows sach mein unique hote hain unhe koi dekhta nahin.. tele language mein bole toh TRP nahin milta... so yes.. Indian television needs massive change.

separate bollywood from tellywood...both are different...BW is getting vulgar thus all this censors are being implied...how to watch with families and parents ...when they show sex and kissing scenes...its awkward to watch with parents and grandparents...TV is a variety to choose and there is no vulgarity shown...yup regressive shits needs to end from TV

I think people shld be wise enough to decide what to watch and what not..but now a days, rhey r left wid no other options as all the channels r offering d same bullshit..so yes censor board is much much necessary to get rid of superstitious shows like naagin and makkhi etc...then ramayana will be free of dinosour..otherwise, they spoiled our general scientific beliefs..and yes the shows like KB who shows infedility will never be made..yes for television censor board
