Popular TV crime show "Crime Patrol: Dastak", which was scheduled to show an episode based on the Delhi gang-rape case, has postponed the telecast citing "unavoidable reasons".

The episode was due to air Friday-Saturday, but the Information and Broadcasting Ministry had informally asked the channel not to telecast it, keeping in mind the sensitivity involved.

"The episode of the Delhi gang rape case won't be telecast today (Friday) on Sony due to unavoidable circumstances. It would be telecast later on a new schedule," a source confirmed to IANS.

A 23-year-old trainee physiotherapist was brutally raped by six men in a moving bus in south Delhi Dec 16. She died Dec 29 in a Singapore hospital, where she was being treated for grievous injuries.

The six rapists, including a juvenile, have been arrested and charges, including of murder, have been filed against five of them.

Hosted by popular TV actor Anup Soni, "Crime Patrol: Dastak" picks crime cases and brings them to the viewers by reconstructing the crime scene with actors.

The show has so far shown some popular cases like those of baby Falak, Neeraj Grover murder as well as Mumbai's eve-teasing case in which Reuben Fernandes and Keenan Santos were killed.

It is totally baseless to stop the telecast of the case. Instead, the law should be made strict to stop these kind of crimes.

I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, I agree with silvermoonlight. This case is at a sensitive stage and the focus should be only on getting justice for that girl. The episode would have raised awareness and generated public outrage, but can that change the judicial decisions? Sadly, it cannot. So perhaps it's better to wait a while. At the same time, I don't trust the government's intentions on this. Their aim was certainly not to protect the privacy and feelings of the girl's family, but only to escape public outrage at their bungling.

@CantQuitTV: ahahaha calm down, take a deep breath and listen, promote what you love instead of bashing what you hate. I truly understand your mental condition. You need love and care. I wouldnt say "get a life looser" because thats what loosers say. Theres a saying which explains your condition very well: "A rolling stone gathers no moss". Have a great life ahead :) I rest my case, not because i am a looser, but i dont wish to talk to loosers. And it wouldnt come as a surprise if i would get a hate reply from you after this comment, as its your persona, but unfortunately, its not mine. I believe in peace unlike you. So i wish you get some good treatment. Wishing for you fast recovery already my poor fellow :)

@CantQuitTV: People usually only do things that feel good to them. People like you who write terrible things on the internet feel great about it. You love the attention. You love when someone reply. You love not being rational. You get joy from what you do. And for that reason I feel very sorry for you because if you think that is joy... So, please peep into yourself and then tell me whos the looser? And about standing at India gate, i dont even know if u are saying truth. Even if you are i guess u just did it to get people's sympathy towards you or else you wouldn't have been showing off like that. I wasted my life's precious 2 min on writing this comment, so please dont let it go waste. I hope this knocked some sense in your brain, if you actually have in you. Ending on a sweet smiley face, becuase people like you need to be treated with love cause you are not mentally stable :)

I really don't care when they telecast the episode.

The only think which we shall be caring about is getting justice soon. Damini/Nirbhaya had suffered a lot, and we had to face such a great loss. Hope atleast now her sufferings, pain and death doesn't go in vain.
I just want awareness amongst the people, awareness to fight against injustice, to hold hands and say No to crime.
Whenever the episode is been telecast, I only want people to be aware of all the non-sense going around and raise voice against it.

Thanx TB for this article anyway.

P.S: Sorry for hurting anyone's feelings here!

i agree with silvermoonlight, even though Crime Patrol depicts real life incidents with maturity and sensitivity in order to educate and bring awareness to the general audience about the crimes taken place in India. This case it at it's initial stage, we all know the events that took place but there hasn't been much development from the legal /judicial point.

I want to know how this case brought about awareness and change in Indian legal system!

If they telecast this case at this point it will be only about the incident and aftermath nothing on how the culprits were brought to justice! The justice is the most important thing, how this case redefined the legal system is what really matters!

The Govt and the laws could not save that poor girl and now they dont want the case to air...
Instead, focus on making the punishments faster and more painful.
