Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 17 (IANS) The fifth edition of the India International Boat Show (IIBS) will be held in Kerala's coastal town Kochi from Oct 20 to 22.

The Kerala Tourism event, which has attracted global attention, has been formatted as a business exhibition with special segments on leisure boating, marine equipment, and navigational and telecommunication aids.

About 400 buyers from India and abroad are expected to gather in Kochi for the show. Exhibitors like the British Marine Federation, Britain's apex marine industry association, GulfCraft, GC Marine and Art Marine from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will also be participating, a statement said.

International boating brands on display among the 60 odd exhibitors are Bayliner, Trophy, Ferretti, Walker Bay and Regal along with marine equipment market leaders like Garmin, Lalizas, Plastimo, Vetus den Ouden and Volvo Penta.

The Indian participants will be led by boat builders like Praga Marine, Samudra Shipyard, Master Shipyard, Matha Marine, Century Shipyard, Alcock Ashdown, Seaspray Aluminium Boats, Hunter Marine and Aries Marine.

Traditional boat building and fishing equipment will be on display as well. Besides, a seminar on marine tourism in India will be held on the sidelines on Oct 21.

IIBS has become the perfect platform for the India boating and marine industry to identify or appoint agents, distributors, meet potential partners, hold one-to-one meetings with future buyers and do business, the press release stated.

The event has been approved by the India Trade Promotion Organisation in New Delhi, India's nodal trade promotion organisation, and supported by various bodies like the Indian Navy, the coast guard and customs.
