New Delhi, Oct 26 (IANS) Communications and IT Minister Dayanidhi Maran Thursday assured that there will not be any compromise on national security in allowing foreign companies to operate in the Indian telecom sector even as he cautioned against 'overreaction' on the issue.
'We should not overreact in the name of national security and follow what is happening in rest of the world,' Maran told reporters here.
'The ministry is in the process of drafting a cabinet note on the subject,' he added.
His remarks came in the wake of complaints by Chinese telecom companies like Huawei and ZTE Technologies, which are not allowed to invest in the Indian telecom industry due to security considerations.
Concerns were also raised recently when an Egyptian company, which has investment in Pakistan, picked up a stake in mobile telephony provider Hutchinson-Essar.
