Bangalore, Oct 25 (IANS) For the first time in the subcontinent, strategic planners from the IT, telecom and consumer electronics industries are meeting in India's silicon hub to deliberate on the increasing role of embedded systems in telecom and other verticals.
The three-day tech event, embedasia 2006, beginning Thursday will focus on the modern trends in embedded technology and their impact in the telecom domain.
Organised by the Centre for Embedded Intelligence (Centre4ei), a joint initiative of experts in the field of embedded systems, the international conference brings the wire-line, wireless, cable, satellite, and IP communications firms on a single platform.
'The conference also offers Indian and overseas companies an opportunity to showcase their products and solutions in a forum dedicated to embedded systems applications in telecom,' embedasia secretary K. Standly told IANS at a preview of the event here Wednesday.
Embedded systems are customised computing systems in electronic devices such as mobile phones and digital cameras. Designing embedded systems is challenging as the borderline between hardware and software is blurred in it.
'The Centre4ei has been set up to conduct cutting edge research in embedded system technology and its application in the domains of telecom, defence, automotive, consumer electronics, etc.
'Through the Centre4ei, we intend to promote the highest standards of embedded system technology. The conference is meant to facilitate the involvement of Indian and overseas firms in embedded systems,' Standly said.
Besides providing business and technical information on embedded systems in telecom domain, the conference will voice the concerns of the industry and apprise the government on the issues pertaining to the high-end technology.
'We are expecting about 500 top professionals from the world over to participate in the event and conduct business with other players,' Standly pointed out.
Among the topics listed for discussions at the event are real-time operating systems and kernels, data networking embedded hardware and software, network and service management, telecom networks and applications, web/Internet applications and tools, wireless networks and applications and automated testing using tools for mobile/wireless applications.
