Male, Aug 8 (IANS) Maldives Attorney General Husnu Suood has resigned over government's 'failure to enact necessary legislation' that made his job 'untenable', a media report said Sunday.
'I resigned... There are a lot pending matters. I believe that all state bodies have failed (to take their responsibilities). So I believe that at least someone should take the responsibility,' Suood said in an interview with haveeru.com.mv.
Suood said he resigned to take responsibility of the constitutional void triggered after the transition period deadline.
He said that failure to enact necessary legislation during his term in office made his job as attorney general, stipulated in Article 133 of the constitution, untenable.
