London, Oct 29 (IANS) British Oscar winning director Anthony Minghella has predicted a revolution in Hollywood and asked the film industry to get prepared for Internet trends.

According to contactmusic.com, Minghella is unsure of the future of the industry but says it has to change to make place for Internet trends that have levelled the playing field in the light of the popularity of video-sharing websites like YouTube.com.

He said: 'It's a revolution. But we don't quite know today what the impact is going to be, any more than with the invention of the printing press or the Biro. It's got nothing to do with quality. It's to do with quantity and access. Up until a handful of years ago filmmaking was the province of a privileged few to the passive many.

'Now the ownership of moving images has passed into the hands of practically everybody with access to a phone, laptop or digital camera. Now they can have their say.'
