Bhopal, Oct 26 (IANS) More than 23,000 panchayat or village council workers in Madhya Pradesh would be covered under the group insurance scheme being launched next year.
According to Minister of State for Panchayat and Rural Development Ganga Ram Patel, the panchayat workers would be ensured economic safety cover through the scheme.
To be launched on April 1, the scheme will cover workers between 18 to 58 years of age.
While the family of the worker would receive Rs.100,000 in case of death during service, Rs.50,000 would be given to the worker for permanent disability.
If any worker covered under the scheme suffers from any serious disease, a certificate of the district chief medical and health officer would ensure the benefits under the scheme.
The panchayat and rural development department would deposit the premium twice a year with the insurance company, the minister said.
