New Delhi, Oct 25 (IANS) As the civic authorities prepare to re-start the sealing drive from Nov 1, Delhi traders Wednesday announced that they would go on a three-day strike from Monday to protest against the campaign.

'We have decided to go on a 72-hour bandh from Oct 30 against the sealing drive,' said Praveen Khandelwal, secretary general of Confederation of All India Traders.

'If our shops are being targeted and we are being forced to close them down, we have decided not to open our shops at all,' he said.

Khandelwal said that at least 300 market associations have extended support to the agitation.

'We will block traffic to express our resentment,' he said.

The Supreme Court has extended till Jan 31 the last date for filing of affidavits by traders that they would stop misuse of residential premises.

Khandelwal said that around 44,000 traders had filed affidavits giving an undertaking to stop the misuse of the residential premises.

Earlier the traders were permitted to continue their operations in residential areas by giving an undertaking before the monitoring committee by Nov 10.
