New Delhi, Oct 19 (IANS) HT Media, the publisher of Hindustan Times, Thursday said its profits after tax grew more than three fold at Rs.269 million for the quarter ended Sep 30 against Rs.80 million in the like period of last year.
The company said its revenues are also up 30 percent for the quarter at Rs.2.57 billion, driven primarily by the contributions from the group's Mumbai operations and Hindi business.
'Our Mumbai edition continues to perform well. We are now one of the country's largest players in the Hindi segment,' Shobhana Bhartia, vice chairperson and editorial director of HT Media, said in a statement.
'During the quarter we entered into an agreement with The Wall Street Journal, which will enable us create a world-class newspaper in India,' she said, adding it will also launch a business newspaper to India soon.
'We also entered into a joint venture with the Times of India Group that will help us establish a new and vibrant newspaper in Delhi,' she said, referring to the developments during the quarter under review.
