Kolkata, Oct 18 (IANS) Adlabs Films Ltd, part of the Reliance-Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG), would demerge the FM radio business and establish it as a separate company, a top company official said Wednesday.

'The radio division will be hived off into a separate company,' said Tarun Katial, chief operating officer of BIG 92.7 FM, the radio division of Adlabs.

He, however, declined to give a time frame for the move.

Katial, who launched BIG 92.7 FM here, said Kolkata is the company's fifth radio station after Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore. A radio station will be launched in Mumbai soon.

'We will launch the FM stations in 45 destinations by April 2007,' he said.

'As per a survey carried out by IMRB, the FM station plans to touch 200 million listeners in India,' he said.

Adlabs had invested nearly Rs.4 billion on the purchase of transmission equipment, building infrastructure and obtaining licence, Katial said.

The company plans to take FM radio as an entertainment medium to virgin markets too, he said.
