Chennai, Sep 27 (IANS) Global technology service provider Bahwan CyberTek Pvt Ltd. Wednesday announced its expansion plans in India with a new facility here.
The centre would provide offshore delivery for the company that recently won a $500 million project from the Petroleum Development of Oman.
Bahwan CyberTek has a joint venture with DHL Worldwide which has brought it the Oman contract.
Nearly Rs.1.5 billion is being invested in developing the centre of excellence here that will employ 1,400 people by 2008, a top company official said.
'The expansion drive significantly enlarges our offshore footprint in India and will allow us to serve more customers,' senior vice president Shyam Sundar told reporters here.
The Suhail Bahwan Group employs 500 people in its India offices and is targeting revenues of Rs.2.5 billion by March 2007. It is in the list of top 100 companies in Red Herring's Asia listing.
It also has a big presence in the US, Oman, UAE and Bahrain with clients like JP Morgan Chase, Emirates Bank, Bank Muscat Capital One and Shell among others.
