Gruelling five-day shoot takes its toll on the actress

| Fatigued: Shubhangi Atre in and as Kasturi | With round-the clock shooting schedules, fainting fits have become the norm rather than an exception in tellyland.
On Tuesday, it claimed its latest victim in Shubhangi Atre, who plays the title role in the new show Kasturi (Star Plus).
Atre fainted while shooting for a one of the episodes at Sankraman Studios. She was then put on saline and made to rest till she recovered.
Overworked
Gayatri Gill, script head of Kasturi, says, "It's true. Shubhagi fainted on April 24 while shooting for Kasturi. She was shooting for the rokda scene with Naman Shaw, who plays her fianc .
We put her on saline on the set itself. She has been shooting non-stop ever since we began work on Kasturi last Friday, as she plays the title role. In fact all the actors are overworked but have been extremely cooperative."
Gayatri explains that the reason for Shubhangi's fainting fit "is the fact that we have had three units for the show running continuously at Sankraman, and Shubhangi has been running from one unit to the other."
She is now fine but is feeling bad that the unit was inconvenienced. Gayatri adds that they are already falling short of time.
"We had to shoot a party sequence last night (Wednesday), but we still hadn't finished Tuesday's episode."
Too much, too soon
She says that most TV stars fall ill in the initial stages of a show or when there are time leaps. "There are so many creative changes happening – time leaps, storylines, director and cast changes, etc – that people take time to settle in.
Everything is rushed and frantic. In the first three weeks, TRPs fall in place and characters' looks are set. For an average two-hour shoot, the director might take six hours. Such things happen and we take them into account."
Currently, Shubhangi is on an IV drip and an ambulance has been kept on standby on the sets should she fall ill again. |
