Supernatural is an American paranormal drama television series
that debuted on September 13, 2005 on the WB, and is now part of The CW's lineup, where the second season premiered on September 28, 2006.
The show follows brothers Sam and Dean Winchester, who travel across the country in a black 1967 Chevy Impala
investigating and combatting paranormal events and other unexplained
occurrences, many of them based
on American urban legends and folklore
as well as classic supernatural creatures such as vampires and ghosts.
When Sam Winchester was an infant and his brother Dean was four years old, their mother, Mary, was murdered on November 2, 1983 (All Souls' Day in the Roman Catholic Church). Her husband, John, saw blood dripping onto Sam's cradle, looked up, and found his wife pinned to the ceiling, her midsection sliced open. A moment later, she burst into flames. John told Dean to take baby Sam outside and made a desperate and futile attempt to save his wife while the house was consumed by flames.
After a psychic told John that a demon was responsible for Mary's death, he became obsessed with finding and destroying it. He trained his sons to recognize and defend themselves against paranormal entities. Sam and Dean became resourceful sleuths and experienced fighters as they assisted their father in his quest to destroy dangerous creatures and find the demon that had killed Mary. However, Sam chafed against the lifestyle his father chose for him, eventually falling out with his father and leaving to live a "normal" life. He attended Stanford University on a full scholarship and lived with his girlfriend, Jessica, in an apartment near campus. But when Dean appears one night during the autumn of his senior year, bearing the news that their father has gone missing while on a "hunting trip," Sam reluctantly agrees to help Dean look for their father.
The brothers trace John to Jericho, California, where they find more clues about their father's location and help solve a murder mystery. However, Sam declines his brother's invitation to continue the search and conduct more hunts, opting instead to return to his life with Jessica. Unfortunately, shortly after arriving in his apartment, he finds her pinned to the bedroom ceiling, bleeding from the abdomen. As Sam watches helplessly, she bursts into flames and dies in the same manner as his mother. Jessica was murdered exactly 22 years, to the day, after Mary. Dean rescues his brother from the burning apartment, and the bereaved Sam decides to resume the search for the demon who killed his mother and his girlfriend. The Winchester boys then pick up the trail of clues, while travelling the United States in their 1967 Chevy Impala, leading to the whereabouts of their missing father.
Eventually the brothers locate him, and he reveals the extent of his knowledge of the demon that killed Mary, and his intention to kill it. At first he opposes the boys' involvement because he fears losing them, but eventually he yields. The Winchesters now search for a special weapon: The Colt, which was created during the Alamo for a demon hunter, and has the ability to destroy any being with one bullet. All three Winchesters, after recovering the Colt from a band of vampires, band together and start to hunt the demon in earnest. However, due to a series of catastrophic events (beginning with John's capture), they are eventually overpowered by the demon, who, while possessing John, nearly tortures Dean to death before Sam can shoot him in the leg with the Colt. Sam tries to rush Dean and John to the hospital, but a demon strikes in the form of an oncoming semi truck, totaling the Impala and leaving all three Winchesters incapacited. While in the hospital, John makes a deal to save a comatose Dean, trading the gun along with his own life. Both Dean and Sam struggle to cope with John's death while trying to continue their job.

John was a US Marine, presumably until he met his wife, Mary, and settled down in Lawrence, Kansas with her. In Lawrence, he co-owned a garage with his friend Mike. After Mary's death, he visited a psychic named Missouri. She showed him what was out there in the world and he realised that what he'd seen the night of Mary's death could be explained, even if no-one wanted to believe him. He brought the boys up by himself, all the while searching for answers about what exactly it was that killed his wife. He learnt as much as he could about the supernatural and trained himself and his sons to fight evil in whatever form it took.
When Sam left home to go to college, John continued to work with Dean, until he went missing while on the trail of a White Woman in Jericho, California, he left Dean a voicemail message warning him to be careful. Dean and Sam searched for John for months with no sign of him. Little did they know that when they went home, he was there, hiding out in Missouri's house. Later he phoned the boys from a payphone in Sacremento, California. He was not heard from until Sam and Dean believed they had found the demon they were all looking for in Chicago. It was a trap, however, and all three were nearly killed by a Daeva. John parted ways from the boys again in order to protect them.
When they finally got back together, it was with a greater chance of defeating the Demon. An old friend of John's left him a mystical gun that would be able to destroy the Demon. The three of them faced the Demon, but tragedy struck when their car was smashed into by a truck whose driver was being possessed by the Demon. John and Sam survived with little wrong with them, but Dean wound up in a coma. When John realised his eldest son was going to die, he made a deal with the Demon - offering the gun and his own life in exchange for Dean's. Minutes later, Sam found John laying dead on the floor.
The boys cremated John's body in a pyre, taking his US Marine dogtags to Mary's headstone so that the two of them could share something.

Mary Winchester was killed on the night of the 2nd November 1983. Having heard a noise in her baby son Sam's room, she went to investigate. She saw the figure of a man standing over the crib and, assuming it was her husband, John, she went downstairs. Finding John asleep, she ran back to the baby's room, screaming. When John came into the room, he found her hanging from the ceiling, dripping blood onto Sam. She suddenly burst into flames, setting the whole house alight. There was no sign of what had killed her.
When Sam and Dean returned to their house 22 years later, the discovered a poltergeist haunting the family that had moved in. They also discovered another ghost, that of their mother. She materialised in front of them, taking a few moments to appreciate her sons, and then gave up her own spirit self to defeat the poltergeist that was trying to kill Sam.

Dean was four years old when their mother was killed. On his fathers orders, he took baby Sam and ran from the house, without having seen exactly what was happening. From that time onwards, he followed his fathers instructions, learning to fight demons and protect Sammy. When he was around 6 or 7 years old, he learnt to shoot, with his father training him by using bottles for target practise. He bullseyed every one of them.
When Dean was 10 years old, Sam was attacked by a Shtriga while they were in a motel in Wisconsin. Dean was supposed to have been looking after him, but had left him alone. Luckily John appeared in time to save Sam, but Dean carried the guilt with him for a long time. By the time Dean was 16 years old, John was taking him along on hunts.
While on a job with his Dad, he met a young woman named Cassie Robinson. She was a student in Athens, Ohio, and the two had a relationship. Despite wanting to keep the "family secret", Dean relevealed the truth about what he did for a living. Cassie was unable to handle the fact that her boyfriend "pops ghosts for a living" and the two broke up.
When Dean accidentally electrocuted himself, he was given only weeks to live by the doctors. Despite this, Sam searched for a way out and took Dean to see a faith healer. Although the faith healer was not actually one (he was channeling a reaper), Dean was still returned to full health. He still feels that he shouldn't have been allowed to live, as his recovery left another man dead. A few months later, he almost died after the car crash that The Demon caused. He was in a coma and encountered a reaper who informed him it was his time. He refused to go, and at the last moment, John gave his life in exchange for Dean's, yet again leaving Dean with severe feelings of guilt.
According to police records, Dean Winchester was assumed dead due to the shapeshifter who died while disguised as him. However, his recent arrest for a murder (which he didn't commit) has led the police to change their assumptions about his current status.
The greatest love of Dean's life is his car, his black 1967 Chevy Impala, which has a weapons locker in the boot, most of his possessions on the backseat and a box full of classic rock tapes in the glove compartment. When the car was smashed up, he spent weeks rebuilding it until it looked as good as new.
He drinks his coffee black and likes peanut M&M's. He wears a necklace
that possibly has some significance, but it is currently unclear what. He is
a womaniser and will flirt with women without even realising he is doing it!

The night Mary died, Sam was just a baby, still in a crib, but it was the appearance of a strange dark figure looking over him that brought her screaming into his room. It was over his crib that Mary hung on the ceiling before she burst into flames. The dark figure was The Demon who has been looking for Sam "and children like him."
After a huge argument between him and John, Sam left home to go to college. He went to Stanford where he met Jessica Moore. They eventually moved in together and Sam was even considering asking her to marry him. He didn't, however, tell her anything about his family and the way they live their lives. He wanted nothing more than a 'normal' life and , with his LSAT scores as high as they were, was heading into Law School, until the day Dean turned up on his doorstep.
He agreed to go with Dean to hunt for John, but was relieved to get back to his apartment. His relief was short-lived as The Demon had struck again, this time killing Jessica in the same way his mother had died.
Not knowing where else to turn, Sam joined Dean on his hunts, telling his friends that he was going on a road trip with his brother - taking some time out after Jess' death. He always assumed that once they had found John and killed The Demon that he would head back to college and pick up his life where he left off.
However, Sam has been experiencing some very strange things. Firstly, for days before Jess's death, he dreamed about it, exactly as it happened. His dreams have started coming true more often and recently he exhibited signs of telekenisis. He has discovered that he is one of many children like him that exhibit various psychic abilities and that The Demon is especially interested in them. His biggest fear is becoming what he has seen in other ones like him - that he will end up using his powers to kill.

Jared Tristan Padalecki (born July 19, 1982) is an American actor. He grew up in Texas and came to fame in the early 2000s after appearing on the television series Gilmore Girls as well as in several Hollywood films, including New York Minute and House of Wax. Padalecki was born in San Antonio, Texas to Gerald R. Padalecki, a tax accountant of Polish heritage (having a Polish father)[1]) and Sharon L. Kammer Padalecki, a teacher. He has an older brother, Jeff, and a younger sister, Megan. Padalecki began taking acting lessons at the age of twelve. He attended James Madison High School in San Antonio and was named a candidate for the 2000 Presidential Scholars Program. Padalecki won Fox TV's 1999 "Claim to Fame Contest"; he subsequently appeared at the Teen Choice Awards, where he met his current manager. After graduating from high school in 2000, he moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue an acting career, although he had originally planned to attend the University of Texas.[2]
Padalecki's first credit was a minor role in the 1999 film, A Little Inside. In 2000, he was cast as Dean Forester on the successful series Gilmore Girls, a role he played until 2005. Throughout the early 2000s, he also appeared in several made-for-television films, including Silent Witness (2000), Close to Home (2001), A Ring of Endless Light (2002) and Young MacGyver (2003).
Padalecki had an uncredited part in 2003's comedy Cheaper by the Dozen. In 2004, he appeared in the Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen-led comedy New York Minute, and also had a role in the thriller Flight of the Phoenix. In 2005, Padalecki starred opposite Elisha Cuthbert, Chad Michael Murray and Paris Hilton in the horror film House of Wax, and appeared in another horror film, Cry Wolf, on the set of which he met his longtime girlfriend, co-star Sandra McCoy.[3]
The same year, Padalecki was cast as Sam Winchester on the WB series, Supernatural, and gained a fan base after the show's success. Supernatural was renewed for a second season, which began airing on September 28, 2006 on The CW.

Ackles was born in Dallas, Texas to Alan Roger Ackles, an actor, and Donna Joan Shaffer. His parents chose the name "Jensen" because it was uncommon.[2] Ackles has an older brother, Joshua, and a younger sister, Mackenzie, and is of Irish, English, and Scottish ancestry.[3] He graduated from Dartmouth Elementary School in 1990, Apollo Junior High School in 1993, and Lloyd V. Berkner High School in Richardson, Texas in 1996[citation needed], where he was a baseball and lacrosse player.[4] He planned to study sports medicine at Texas Tech University and become a physical therapist before moving to Los Angeles to become an actor.[5][6][7]
After modeling off and on as a young child, Ackles began to concentrate on an acting career in 1996. He appeared in several guest roles on Mr. Rhodes, Sweet Valley High, and Cybill before joining the cast of the NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives as Eric Brady in 1997. He won a 1998 Soap Opera Digest Award for Best Male Newcomer and went on to be nominated three times (in 1998, 1999, and 2000) for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series for his work on Days of Our Lives.[8]
Ackles departed Days of Our Lives in 2000 and went on to appear in the mini-series Blonde about the life of Marilyn Monroe. He also auditioned for the role as the young Clark Kent on Smallville, but it was offered to actor Tom Welling instead.[9] After failing to land the part, he appeared in a guest role on the James Cameron television series Dark Angel on Fox during its first season in 2001 as Ben/X5-493, the psychopathic, serial killer "brother" of the main character Max/X5-452 (played by Jessica Alba). His character died in the episode, but Ackles returned to the show as a series regular in the second season as Ben's twin, Alec/X5-494. He remained with the show until its cancellation in 2002.
Ackles worked steadily throughout 2003. He joined the cast of the WB's hit show Dawson's Creek during the final season, playing C.J., Jen Lindley's lover. Afterward, Ackles filmed several episodes of the unaired series Still Life for Fox before it was abruptly dropped. He also had a small role in the 2004 short film The Plight of Clownana. Ackles was the producer's first choice to play Eliza Dushku's love interest on the second season of Tru Calling,[10] but Ackles returned to Vancouver (where Dark Angel was filmed) in 2004 to become a regular on Smallville instead, playing Jason Teague, the romantic interest of Lana Lang, played by Kristin Kreuk. He also had a lead role in the 2005 film Devour, where his father also had a role.
Most recently, Ackles joined the cast of the WB horror series Supernatural in 2005, where he co-stars as Dean Winchester. Dean teams with his brother Sam (Jared Padalecki) to road-trip across the country investigating the paranormal while searching for their missing father, John Winchester (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). The second season was picked up by The CW in 2006 for the 2006-2007 television season.[11]
Ackles is set to appear in the 2007 film Ten Inch Hero, in which he will play the role of Priestly.

Supernatural stud Jensen Ackles laughs up a storm on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday night. The 29-year-old Texas native co-stars alongside fellow Texan hunk Jared Padalecki on the eerie sci-fi series on The CW.
Apparently, Jensen has really pretty eyes. Jimmy's other guest, Latino actress Rosie Perez asked Jensen, "Do you curl your eyelashes?"

JK: We [laughter] -- I notice there's a lot of women who are screaming and screaming. There's a couple of guys screaming also. JA: I see a couple.
