Kesari has held well on its second Friday as collections will cross 4 crore nett and may even 4.25 crore nett. This will take the film to 110 crore nett apprx and the hold on Friday ensures a good run for the next few weeks, The film has held in most places with North having the stronger business.
The film just has to now consolidate this hold by getting good growth on the second Saturday. The film is very similar to Total Dhamaal the only difference being that film found more appreciation in Mumbai and Gujarat while Kesasri will be North India.
Both films Kesari and Total Dhamaal are looking at around 95 crore nett from the biggest contributors North and Mumbai. Total Dhamaal has done 55 crore nett in Mumbai and 40 crore in North and Kesari will likely end up with 35 crore nett in Mumbai and 60 crore nett in North.
The two new releases could not make much of a mark with Junglee looking to be around 2.50 crore nett and Notebook not even getting to 75 lakhs nett as per early estimates.
Kesari had a good hold on the second Friday as it collected 4.25 crore nett to take its total to 110 crore nett. The film is doing well all over now with excellent business in Delhi / UP and East Punjab with Rajasthan and Bihar being next best. The film has held strongly at multiplexes all over while business in single circuits outside UP and Bihar is down
Mumbai circuit which was crucial for the film is steady and will eventually put up a pretty good number. If this circuit had done better then the film would have gone towards that 2.0 (hindi) number but now it should do similar business to Total Dhamaal.
Kesari just needs to consolidate this good hold with good growth over the weekend which will lead to a good second week. It may not be to the level of Total Dhamaal as that had holidays in the second week but Kesari has a healthy lead from that film in the first week due to it being an extended first week. Kesari has emerged a HIT film as it grossed 6.50 crore nett on its second Saturday with growth of 55% which is more than Total Dhamaal had on the second Saturday which was a similar release. The collections are also a little higher than Total Dhamaal on the second Saturday despite having lower daily collections than that film since Monday.
The film has now grossed over 116 crore nett in nine days and is heading towards the 150 core nett mark. The film has been helped by the extended first week with a holiday which boosted the business but it still needed to hold in the second weekend as some circuits came down after the holiday period.
Kesari is a SUPER HIT in Delhi / UP and East Punjab because of the local appeal and a film which is very Punjabi in feel and on top all characters are sardaars will be more accepted in Punjab and Delhi then the rest of the country. Still the other areas have done well enough as only North India cant take a film to 150 crore nett.
Kesari consolidated on its second Friday number with a good jump on Saturday to collect 6.50 crore nett and take its total to almost 117 crore nett. The film is a HIT with SUPER HIT business in Delhi / UP and East Punjab.
Despite being very good in North the film has stabilized in the other circuits. Places like Maharashtra, West Bengal and Nizam / Andhra which the under performers are doing decent business even in the second weekend. The second weekend so far is similar to Total Dhamaal though the week will not be as Total Dhmaal had the advantage of a holiday on Monday which mean huge collections on Sunday and Monday.

The film held well on Friday and the had solid growth over the weekend. the film will be the highest Akshay Kumar grosser by the end of the week if we take out 2.0 (Hindi) which was a film from the Tamil film industry. The growth last Sunday was muted for the film but this week the growth was there.
The big plus for the film is actually the business outside Delhi and Punjab as these were likely to do very well due to the local feel but you cant get 150 crore nett apprx from just these areas it has to do business in other parts of the country which it has managed to do.
