Bepannah ~ My thoughts ~ep 68 20.6.18. Woman most wanted!
Zoya Arora off recent happens to be the most sought after person for the Hoodas in town. This endearing, harmless girl who wouldn't say boo! to a ghost; swoons at the sight of cockroaches! now holds considerable clout before the mighty Hoodas. She neither possesses money nor status, nor the support of a life partner. But what she does have now is an earnest, yet dangerous commitment, to erase the wrongful charges made on her dead husbands name. To her it means to fulfil promises made to a a vulnerable ailing mother, that she will avenge her sons maligned memory. Reopening Yash's case comes as a dread to the Hoodas. To me Zoya also has to stand up to much censure aimed at her for continuing to cleanse the name of a husband who cheated her in the first place. But then in the episode we learn that what matters to others, has ceased to bother Zoya much.As preoccupation about what others think, cause pit holes in her purpose driven present occupation. This stands as a contrast to the mighty Hoodas and Siddique's for to them societal views do make quite a difference, they have images to maintain. Zoya champions the cause of redeeming Arora's defamed image.. it does matter to her.
The senior Hoodas like any other hosts await the arrival of the family with whom they intend to forge a business deal. There is concern they might not turn up. Aditya actually knows Zoya well. He could earlier decipher her not to keen to attend their party expressions. Plus deep down, he knows being the sentimental fool she is, she'll probably forbid the family from coming as well. The look on his face when Zoya turns up is ,grumpy, but with a touch of much relief! The manner in which his eyes check her up and down.. almost say ,well, she certainly has put in the effort. Zoya instead, checks out the ambience. Festive ,well laid out and with the appropriate music playing. The two brothers looked well turned out, appropriate to the Eid celebrations. Anjana as the Hooda mistress of the manor, reiterates the purpose of inviting the Siddique's for this Eid milan as means to let bygones be bygones. This sets the tone of the episode. But the inference lies within the subtle fact that the Hoodas work to a motive.
Within the celebrations lie veiled several purposes of inviting the Siddique's. Firstly to impress upon their guests regardless of what goes on in court and media, they continue to honour diverse faith festivals and promote goodwill and harmony. Secondly , Hoodas refrain from begrudging any of their clientele. The final reason , important one, to me is, once again show Zoya in contact with the Hoodas .This time out of court in their social gathering! This should be sufficient to bring her before the public eye. For in future Hoodas can boast about Zoya milling between them even in a exclusive party should she drag them in court accused of falsifying information to defame her deceased husband Yash.
Adi and Zoya's usual aloofness that had long dissipated during their "flee from Rajveer expedition in the jungle and their refuge in the Muslim community. Suddenly makes a come back.To me they are like two children fallen out due to fibs that lead them to squabble. Adi's efforts though are gallant and note worthy as the accommodating host. He approaches her but, she rebuffs him in her typical style of subtle feminine fury. Its amusing to see , that despite him acting on his fathers behalf.. the impatient Adi , tries to win back his feisty friend Zoya! dramatically, blocks her way amidst all the seated guests! She has to stops . Seems to her the old days return. Adi can see it on her puffed up moody face he'll have to appease her with stuff that'll go straight to her heart! Firstly he remembers all that she preached to him about Ramzan being a month of patience and perseverance. A month that typifies belief in goodness. He appeals to her in all sincerity that Eid is a time that marks , passing away of old things , and moving forward towards new beginnings! Much to his delight, Zoya continues to grant him audience!
But then Adi too, like his father ,it seems now wants to create big impressions to people that matter to him! centre stage as a host he announces, especially to Zoya that the Hoodas believe in celebrating each others happiness, letting go off of sorrow, moving on. He welcomes the Siddique's, particularly Zoya, and rather ostentatiously, on stage offers his hand to her to celebrate and mark their friendship .The scene may be celebratory yet not without hidden agenda. Its crafted , so Zoya is drawn into a robust dance with Adi on stage! Create possibility for his father to sneak Waseem out of the bustle of the party into a close door session. Chalk out a solution for a matter of common interest! Adi does his bit as the obedient son, keeps the dreaded Zoya occupied on stage! While Harsh does his bit to keep Zoya quiet!
The dance sequence would have meant much to me had it not been divisive, deceptive, without an ulterior motive. On the face of it, the caper itself befits the occasion. Speaks of Adi's change of strategy to win over and appease Zoya. Wherein before he serves her reminders about the divine significance of Eid to build bridges between them. Presently, for me, his frolicsome pulsating gambol perhaps speaks of Adi's rebellion against her rejection. A forceful revolt against his moral captivity by his father. Perhaps Adi struggles to be set free to befriend Zoya without any familial pressures and her austere principles? Seems the rhythm of their undefined bond appears uncoordinated and out of sync at the moment. Too many things simultaneously seem to go wrong in the episode! Zoya detained in dance on stage! Rohana noticing her husband surreptitiously escorted up the stairs by senior Hooda! Arjun chases, begs Noor for attention! Noor turns up the volume of the music deck! To block Arjun's pleas! Sly disguised killer cop Rajveer chuckles as the target volume trigger for bomb is set! Rohana notices this familiar figure with a baseball cap! fiddling with the deck. All unaware of the approaching dance of death and destruction. Motherly instinct triggers off the emergency call for Zoya!! the daughter heeds and comes off the stage! To confront the next stage of celebrations tailor made for the Siddique's by the Hoodas.
Behind closed doors, its Zoya again who becomes the contentious issue for the mighty Harsh Hooda. Harsh offer of money to buy out a father to dissuade his daughter Zoya from regenerating the controversial Yash case, reminds me of the time when Waseem pulled out a cheque book to buy Yash s services to fight his Zoya's case. Such irony Harsh did just that. Set Zoya free! Today a ringfenced Harsh faces the somewhat morally victorious Waseem. Whose daughter now becomes a rod for the Hoodas back! He is having to buy her silence. Zoya barges in time and stands ominously between the two men who both put a wager for the truth that she wishes to uphold. Her conscience is nor for sale. Somethings in life like ones integrity , beliefs. Money cannot always buy from some people. Zoya tears the cheque and throws it up in the air. Harsh's deal back fires in his face! all his peace of mind goes as fast as it came. Money as a tool goes up in the air! Adi turns up and watches once again the mighty Hoodas are left at the mercy of his stubborn friend. To appease his father he chastens Zoya , how she is blind to the disruption it will cause between their families. He maintains, it's consent between two families the Hoodas strive for! But Zoya is hellbent on causing dissent ! Zoya brings up the issue of fulfilling promises, to expose the truth! Whereas he continues to abide by false promises to set them free! In the end both Zoya and Adi stand by the promises they made to their families , adamant and more committed than before. Harsh ensures that Adi continues to veer Zoya away from reopening Yash s case. Not with brute force but with gentle force.
Arjun faces his worst nightmare , his brother ,unlike him is in the grip of his fathers's sordid deals. Only he can help Zoya by offering her Pooja's diary to show which side he supports. The low profile, pushed back truth ,like Arjun was, during the party, as opposed to the loud in your face contrived falsehood behind the Eid party. Being a Hooda, Arjun's support for the opposing side is far from easy to swallow by the Siddique's. But his sincere track record in supporting Zoya wins her trust! and she vouches for his integrity.
It has to be Zoya, the dreaded woman! who uncovers the Rajveer's heinous plot to finish off the Hoodas. She thus gets the chance to set aside her hurt and anger against them, and makes the informed choice of saving their lives by confronting Rajveer! The events spin and Adi on the look out for Zoya gets to learn from Noor , Arjun too attempted to stop the Siddique's from leaving in a huff! The siblings from both sides, act as a soldering force between Adi and Zoya. In time of need Zoya calls for Adi instead of her sister, because to her it is the better option. Only Adi can physically, mentally, emotionally match up to Rajveer! Zoya has experienced Adi's sense of protection towards her in dangerous times. His mental agility and perseverance can be trusted without a doubt.. well.. under the present situation Adi is the right person for the job! Thus we have the reason behind Zoya's kidnapping. Along with it comes the classic reason for the knight in shining armour to rescue his lady in distress. The rescue will be far from easy as Rajveer gives Adi ,the Hobsons choice! Take it or leave it! Save your lady or your family! hamlet53 21.6.18
The plot thickens, what choice will Adi and Zoya make? I cannot but, once more see them working together to thwart Rajveer s nefarious designs. Have to say Harshad as Adi danced very well and kept up the certain momentum required from that section of the episode.. thanks for continuing to support my late posts! plus tediously long posts .. much love hammie
