Actor Shakti Arora is
all set to make a comeback on TV with Colors' new show, Silsila Badalte
Rishton Ka. This is his third show with the channel. He became a
household name with the portrayal of Ranveer Waghela on Meri Aashiqui
Tumse Hi. Talking EXCLUSIVELY to Bollywood Life, he said, "Basically,
the show is about modern day relationships. It is about new age couples,
the kind of conversations they have, their issues, challenges and so
on. On the show, Shakti plays a doctor Kunal who is a child specialist.
His wife's role is being played by Aditi Dev Sharma. She is a
gynecologist by profession. "They know each other from college. Kunal is
a hard-core romantic. They are very much in love. He is compatible,
understanding, supportive and at times, behaves like a baby before his
wife. They pamper each other. It is a modern relationship where couples
balance work-life, he elaborates. On the other hand, Nandini (Drashti
Dhami) is in a not-so-happy relationship with her husband. The drama
begins when the couple befriend Nandini and her husband.
The handsome actor says he is a secure husband in real life too. "I understand if Neha has male friends and wants to meet that person. I am very secure in my relationship. Problems arise when a husband is insecure or obsessive. When you do not trust a person, troubles crop up. Mauli (Aditi Sharma) and Kunal are pretty secure, he says. Shakti also spoke up about the speculation of Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka being inspired by Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. "There are few subjects in romance to tap in. KANK was about extra-marital affairs. It showcased a particular aspect of relationships. This is a daily soap, it will have thousand twists and turns. But the show is not about infidelity. It is about modern relationships. Though it is a fictional story, it is made in a realistic space, he asserts.
In between, there were rumours that he rejected Jatt Ki Jugni and two
other shows. "Kuch Dhaang Ka Tha Hi Nahi...Nothing excited me. I was
getting mytho or fantasy shows. They involve hard work but as an actor
you cannot improvise on them. Here, you can do that. I might do them in
future but now I wanted something that did really excite me. When I read
about the concept of the show, I made sure I gave it my best shot at
the audition. I was lucky to grab it, he says happily. This is also his
first show with Drashti Dhami. People have already liked their
chemistry. "She is a lovely co-star. No tantrums or anything of the
sort. I feel honoured working with these guys. Aditi has done films too.
We have senior actors here whom I have been watching since childhood.
They are a trained talented bunch of people. So far, I have worked
mostly with newcomers. It is a very passionate team, he gushes.
Given the theme of the show of a man and two women, do we see a lot of physical intimacy. Romantic shows are a huge hit with the digital audience as we can see on social media. "We will show as much as we can. For example, if the couple make up after a fight, there will be some romance. People do not enjoy shows sans romance. When they get intimate, it's like thank god, yeh mil gayee. It is like a satisfaction ka dose (laughs out out). At the same time, if we overdo, it's like what's this nonsense, only chipka chipki 247, he says. Shakti reveals that he is very fond of good clothes and has taken personal interest in the styling. "I love doing photoshoots. People do observe what actors are wearing with great interest. A nice combination is always appreciated, he says. When we asked him if he had ever been caught between two women, he promptly said, "No.
The actor married recently and is enjoying this new phase in his life. "We were BFFs first and later fell in love. We got so comfortable with each other that we realised it would be tough to find someone else with whom we shared same compatibility. Of course, we met people with whom we had chemistry but lacked understanding. Compatibility is the key for a long stable relationship. Earlier, we would have to meet up to have fun now we do it staying together, he says. He admits that it is little odd to now address Neha as his wife. "The whole concept of dharampatni sounds a little too bhaari, he says (laughs). Shakti reveals that he visited his wife's hometown recently and got a royal welcome. "They fed me a lot. All my packs disappeared he said. I am blessed to get such warmth and love though, he signs off.
