An out-of-the-blue impulse to pen down a two part story amidst all the chaos landed me here again. Having failed miserably to create a set up that is unique, I decided to settle for a cliche - the honeymoon chapter of Sameer and Naina.
This is just me trying to narrate a few moments that the couple had weaved, before and during their private getaway in the Alpine heaven Switzerland!
I'm unsure if the journey would be smooth and enjoyable, nevertheless I've decided to step into the cockpit. To the passengers who have decided to risk the poor weather and step in anyway, welcome on board! 😃
Please fasten your seat belts, secure your baggage and keep your seats upright, because the crew is going to play before you the Teaser of..
The Not-So-Icy Alpine Affair!
" Thank you so much! "
Sameer said and courteously smiled at the pretty cabin attendant, as he picked up the glass from the tray that she had kindly extended before him. Acknowledging his gratitude, the stewardess left to attend to the others.
Sameer's lips had almost parted to take in the rim of the glass when he felt an unexpected nudge against his elbow, by another. The shock wave zapped his arm, making the clear liquid inside the container spill and wet the thick denim that clothed his thigh.
" Kya kar rahi ho Naina! Meri Jeans gili ho gayi na ! " he vexedly asked his better half, who was being mischievous for reasons known only to her.
" Tum already teen glass paani pee chuke ho! Aur peeoge toh bathroom jana padega! " Naina warned.
" Toh? Zarurat padega toh jaaunga.. usme kya he? "
" Tumhe darr nahi lagta? Flight ke toilet se? " Naina asked, somewhat surprised by the her husband's bravery.
" Darr? Toilet se dar kyu lagega bhai? Usme koi bhoot voot nahi he! " Sameer ridiculed her silly questions.
" Sameer!! Bhoot ki baat nahi kar rahi hu me... maine ye suna he, ki plane ke saath kuchh gadbad ho jaane par toilets ke darwaze khud bandh ho jaate he.. agar aisa hi kuchh hua, aur hum andar phas gaye toh? Isiliye toh me yaha control kar ke baithi hu! " Naina confessed.
However Sameer, who was not ready to let her elude that easily, took to being his persuasive best. Left with no choice but to trust her husband who agreed to wait outside, Naina finally decided to step into the small cubicle and ease her bladder muscles.
" Itne complicated kyu banate he cheezon ko? Toilet hi toh he aakhir! " Naina spoke to herself, after it took her three attempts to get water flowing out of the weird looking tap near the wash basin. With countless labels, panels and buttons all over, the tiny space looked more like a laboratory than a lavatory to her.
Naina was about to open the latch and step out, when she experienced a sudden falling sensation and almost got thrown off balance. An uneasy feeling instantly sprang up inside her, however she decided to ward it off. Not wanting to spend time anymore time in the scary airless space, Naina quickly tried to open the latch of the door. A pang of fear engulfed her upon finding that her fear has turned true- the door, has closed for real. On its own, trapping her inside! .
" Sameer! " she desperately called for help and much to her horror, came no response from the other side of the door.
In what Naina presumed to be less than ten seconds, a chain of jumps and jerks followed, creating havoc all over the aircraft.
Were they crashing?
Were they landing in water?
Were they about to explode mid-air?
Was she going to die, without catching one last glimpse of Sameer?
Naina's flow of horrific thoughts were interrupted by several wails and screams that emanated from within the cabin; the ones that grew from faint to deafening, in a matter of just few seconds. Buzzers cried danger, red lights lit up at random places, and broken voice of the pilot came out of the speaker along with a lot of disturbance.
It seemed like the end of life!
Naina cried one last time for Sameer, loud, clear and shrill this time.
And the response was a blast.
A loud, thundery explosion!

Sameer berserkly ran his finger along the row of switches on the panel, flicking them all in succession. One of them turned the bedside lamp on, and let him catch a glimpse of his wife crying in distress.
" Naina... Naina! " he shook her hard, trying to stop her from ululating and uttering gibberish.
Naina had not been fully out of the trauma when she sprang up, threw her arms around his neck, and leaned against him. He sat up tugging her weight along, and rubbed her back in vehement strokes to ease her.
Sameer wanted to destroy the monsters that had broken her sleep and put her in such agony.
But he also wanted to thank them, for what it made her do in the middle of the night; irrespective of the reasons, she was always a bliss to hold onto!
" Sameer? "?Naina asked after a while, still leaning on to him, who in turn was leaning against the headboard of the bed.
" Bolo! "
" Hum.. Manali ya Shimla nahi jaa sakte kya honeymoon pe? " Naina suggested.
" Kya??? Par Kyu? " An utterly surprised Sameer asked.
" Wo... Ye flight mujhse nahi ho paayegi! " Naina said with an apologetic face.
Upon hearing this, Sameer instantly freed himself from her hold and sat upright.
" Arre yaar phir se shuru ho gayi tum! " he exclaimed.
" Ye flight se hi kyu jaana pad raha he hume! " Naina complained.
" Toh kya auto me jaaogi Switzerland? "
Naina pouted, and looked as cute as a button doing that. Had Sameer not been arguing, he would have kissed her right there.
" Naina kitni baar samjhau tumhe? chhote bachhe tak flight me travel karte he .. wo bhi akele me! Sirf tumhe hi kya problem he? " Sameer said, the frustration of having to explain and re explain things evident in him.
" Chhote bachho ko dar nahi lagte honge.. Mujhe lagti he! " Naina crossed her arms and said, without meeting his gaze.
" Ufff.. Ok.. Theek he.. Mat aao.. Tum yaha ghar par hi raho, ya phir Ahmedabad chali jao! " Sameer said, and lied down on the bed again.
" Aur tum? " she asked.
" Me kya? Me toh jaane wala hu Swiss! "
" Mere bina tum waha jaake kya karoge? " Naina demanded to know.
" Arre ye puchho kya nahi karoge.. bohot masti karunga, smart and stylish vilayati ladkiyo k saath ! Best part ye he ki wo log sirf good looking nahi,but adventurous bhi hote he.. tumhari tarah darpok nahi.. aah mazaa aayega! " Sameer spoke enthusiastically.
" Me darpok nahi hu haan! " Naina protested.
" Haan haan.. Tum toh Jhansi ki Rani ho! Isiliye kah raha hu, yahi par hi raho.. Me jaakar aunga.. if possible Swiss chocolates le aaunga tumhare liye! "
Sameer had expected Naina to sulk, smirk or pout. He had also expected her to smack him, or hurl a pillow at him. However, he had not expected her to do what she had actually done.
Gathering all of her lung power, she had let out two shrill, ear splitting screams, almost giving Sameer a mini heart attack.
" Oyyee! Kya kar rahi ho! " He asked, cluelessly furious.
Naina simply giggled for the next few seconds, until they heard a series of knocks on their bedroom door.
" Didi.. Didi...Bhaiya??? kya hua? Mummy... Jaldi aao!"
" Deepika! " Sameer recognised the voice and got off the bed to answer the door. Naina quietly followed.
" Kya hua Naina Didi? "
Sameer noticed the sudden change of expressions on his wife's face in front of his sister. In almost no time, Rohan and Vishakha too joined them, the latter panting from having climbed the stairs in hurry.
" Naina.. Kya hua beta? Kyu chilla rahi thi? " Vishakha asked.
" Wo.. Me so rahi thi.. Aur Sameer achanak... Sorry mummy... me bohot dar gayi..sorry! " faking fear to perfection, Naina hugged his mother and buried her face into the older woman's shoulder.
" KYAAA??? Mummy... maine kuchh nahi kiya! Sach!! " Sameer who was in plain shock, tried to defend himself. Vishakha simply stared at at her son in response. She had not opened her mouth, but Sameer had clearly read the 'kyu hame sharminda kar rahe ho' look from her face.
His mother had misunderstood him, for all the wrong reasons. And being innocent in real did not stop him from being embarrassed either .
" Kya kiya bhaiya ne Didi ko! " The staring-interpretation games being played by the adults, were beyond the comprehension level of the ten year old girl.
" Tum itni raat tak jaagi kyu ho? " Vishakha chided her youngest one.
" Kal chutti he na, isiliye! " Deepika displayed her hardbound copy of Enid Blyton Classics , implying that she had been reading.
" Toh kal padho! Ab andar jaake so jao.. Hum bade he yaha tumhari Bhabhi ke khyal rakhne keliye! "
Clearly disappointed but having no option left, Deepika walked back to her room while Vishakha escorted Naina back to the bed. The latter halted in front of Sameer before exiting the room.
" Sameer.. ghar par aur bhi log he.. thoda.. sambhalo! " His mother said hesitantly, without looking at his face.
" Par Mummy...! " Sameer tried to explain, but she was already gone.
That was it!
His prankster wife and her evil act had caused some irreversible harm to his reputation in the house. Hammering the last nail on the coffin that carried the image of his unflustered self, Rohan stepped forward and began talking softly.
" Kya bhai.. Do din baad jaa rahe ho na Switzerland.. Tab tak control nahi kar sakte ho tum? "
Sameer knew that his brother had found a reason to tease him for the rest of their lives, and that no attempt from his side would work anymore.
" Maine bohot galat kiya tumhe wo time table wali zindagi se alag karke! Kuchh zyada hi cool ban gaye ho tum! "
He remarked, making Rohan chuckle.
Sameer too could not help but join, in spite of his miserable state.
He soon closed the door and fumed at his wife, who was now sitting up on the bed, giggling.
" Harkat koi kare, aur badnaam koi aur ho jaaye! " Sameer ranted as he hopped on to the bed and pulled the sheet over him, cursing his fate.
Naina's giggles, now gave way to laughter.
" Bohot maza aa rhi ho na tumhe ye sab karke? " Sameer asked, to which she nodded enthusiastically.
" Arre mai tumhe aur cool bana rahi hu.. Afterall, Vilayati ladkiyo ke saamne star jo banna he tumhe!" Naina teased.
" Koi nahi chaiye.. Ab toh tumhare hi saath jaunga!! " Sameer said.
" Aur dekh lena, waha wakai me
kaise chillogi tum! " he added, staring at her meaningfully.
Leaving piquant hints during conversations with Naina has been Sameer's hobby for a while now. And every time he did that, it stimulated a twitch inside her belly.
" Dekhte he! " Naina uttered, trying to cover up for the blush.
The couple engaged in one long lock of their eyes before the the bedside lamp went off and they hit the bed again, this time facing away from each other.
While the wicked Husband began to plot his revenge, the Wife could not help but get apprehensive and excited about the trip that was to see many of her firsts happen for real.
Her first flight.
Her first snow.
Her first trip to a foreign land.
Her first moment with her man, that they have deliberately been saving for their honeymoon. That special moment, the craving for which they have been laboriously suppressing in the nine days and nights that have passed since their wedding!
The couple knew only too well, that accumulated desire when unleashed in an undeniably surreal ambience, was sure create to magic. And that, exactly that was what Mrs. and Mr. Sameer Maheshwari wanted their moment to be- magic!
An absolute, euphoric magic!
