Yeah, I wonder what happened to the quote function πŸ˜•.

I know what you mean about memory - I too have just this one overarching memory of a movie that I watched ages ago, it may not even be essential to the plot- but it's the only thing I can recall from the movie.

Pure fun in comedy romps tend to be under-rated, I know what you mean about HGF having satirical elements and tried to make some sort of commentary with social and political implications (my memory is hazy on this) which is probably why it isn't as much pure fun as BUB is. Much the same way I feel about another celebrated comedy classic  - The Philadelphia Story.

Here's the BUB scene for you -

You're Welcome ALD :-) I liked the whole IV too
She looks real nice despite being jet lagged

No I don't agree with her that she didn't deserve NA. I think she and esp. the movie deserved all the awards and accolades

She says she was going thru difficult phase in life and that showed in her face
She gives credit to the atmosphere & Muzafar Ali, bcz he's a painter each scene looked like a painting
I think he should've won an award too... Anybody can make it look beautiful but the movie had depth and soul
(Bcz even with good story we see BW mess up all the time)

She's honest and unpretentious, her old IVs are good
Then she started trying hard IMO, trying to act all mysterious...

EDIT: Her eyes and voice have always been her assets, she uses them here to maximum effect :-)

@bold.. :o ..I didn't know that hehe.. I agree Betty.. it had a depth, soul, was emotionally rich, well-made film and also it's portrayal of culture was really good. :)

Thankyou for posting the full interview! will watch it later :)

Rekha's eyes do convey a lot, especially the way they convey pain.. :( ..If I remember well, her eyes towards the end of the short interview you posted before too had that look  and even in the film Umrao Jaan.. I don't remember the exact scene, but she looks towards the camera all sad, it pierced my heart.. lol.. Her eyes speak so much in unspoken ways... She was surely channeling the emotions she went through in her personal life in the film.. maybe all actors do, but I have rarely seen anyone "act" like her.. β€οΈ.. sorry I kinda lost track... I just like Rekha so much, whom I discovered just recently ..☺️

What films starring Rekha would you recommend Betty? Solely for her acting..

BTW, wish you a very happy new year! πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ Warm wishes! ❀️

I guess, this forum's format and web page layout the THE WORST , that I know, while comparing many other desi-videsi  forums's web pages.  It never allows  foreign languages and many other viewing window, and replying by paragraph/quotes  limitations.

For Einthusan, I sense that you are talking about accessing on yr digital TV,

Coz on PC, it's just a  site and can be accessed without any  third party  Hola or such enhancement...

Ahh I hope the revamp that is under way will make this website more user-friendly

And, no Himalaya, I access Einthusan on laptop.

Happy New Year to you and yours!! πŸ˜ƒ

It's a wonderful life is a great film. Do watch it. And let me know your thoughts on it. I will keep posting reviews, Angel, thanks for you kind words on my writing.

Re Andhadhun and my metaphorical interpretation of the rabbit- hunt scene. Hmm-- let's see. Maybe to show a  parallel between hunter (Tabu) and the hunted (Ayushman/rabbit) and the hunted comes out the winner in either case? I know some people were saying the parallel was between the rabbit being blind only in one eye which meant Ayushman was too, but I don't buy that explanation.

The clue from the tree on the highway - well, when we see the narrative at first (before the cut to Europe when Akash meets Sophie), it shows the doctor trying to convince Akash to help him sell Simi's organs saying "she'll die anyway" and the car drives off, there's a 2-3 second shot where we see the car drive away and you can see a lone tree on the right of the highway and the car clearly drives past that.
But when Akash recounts to Sophie what happened (after she says "Phir"?),  the car stops at that very same tree, where the doc gets off to sedate Simi and gets killed in the process. Hence the "clue" that Akash can't have been telling the truth to Sophie.

Chayageet and Chitrahaar were shows from way back that showed Hindi songs back  when Doordarshan was the about only channel broadcasting.

Happy Holidays to you too, Angel and Happy New Year!

Thankyou, wish you and yours a happy new year LB!! ❀️ [:D ]

I'm good :) ..have you seen any films from the year 2018 besides Andhadhun? :)

I didn't know the rabbit was blind! O_O .. hmm, although the parallel between rabbit-hunter and Akash-Tabu angle makes sense...that's not how my 'nazariya' towards the film is too, didn't fully satisfy me :p  ..I guess the film needs more than one viewing..

As for tree, wow, I didn't notice that..πŸ˜ƒ making a mental note of this for the next time I watch the film :)

Batwara (1989)
This is a movie about 2 jigri dosts, one Thakur Vikram Singh (Vinod Khanna) and peasant Chaudhary Sumer Singh (Dharmendra). In post-independence India, new proposed land reforms have got everyone jittery, the Thakurs who live like local royalty dont want to lose their land and status and amid the turmoil, the peasants are increasingly asserting their rights.

In these cataclysmic times, the friends find themselves caught in the crossfire of a war that is not theirs and yet where they must mark their loyalty and allegiance to their kith and kin. The two become baaghi daakus and from there starts a game of cat and mouse between the warring factions and the police.

The acting is excellent, it has to be with stalwarts like Dharmendra Vinod Khanna, Amrish Puri, Dimple etc. Dharmendra looks a little worse for wear but what a superstar he must have been that from a career that started in 1960s he was still getting lead roles in such big budget movies. He's stellar but looks old, that's all.
Vinod Khanna is suave and hot. Their friendship is like the stuff of a Byronic novel...they are sworn bachelors till two feisty ladies refuse to take no for an answer...and then they become staunch enemies.
Cinematography and camera work is mindblowing. I loved the long shots of the desert esp and the beautiful havelis like citadels in some godforsaken land infuse some kind of gothic romanticism.
Music is good too. Direction is excellent though the screenplay could've been better. This movie could have been among the all-time greats but there is just something lacking in execution like it's a bit too neat, too perfect and the end scene would've been better without youngest brother policeman Thakur's sentimental head thumping in the sand with a "nahiiin" rocking of the head to and fro...also the end song. that was not needed. A stoic stance with tears in the eyes and sentimental music with perhaps a voiceover by a villager mouthing some folklore type of lines would've been better.
There are other instances like this.

This movie now goes on my short list of movies that I'll watch over and over whenever I need a pick me up or escape or...I loved it so..
This civilized living doesnt suit me and many a times I fantasized about being a Robinhood type of bandit but alas...I feel encumbered by the limitations of my gender and then again the reality may be more like Bandit Queen (which I havent seen only read the synopsis but found it gross and crass) instead of the idealistic and noble baaghis of Batwara.

The horseriding scenes give such an adrenaline rush..so well filmed they're and my, all the actors are such excellent horsemen...its obvious they did all their own scenes...instant retribution  and a moment's notice before death...that kind of azaad...there is such beauty  ...what's not to like...I loved loved loved this movie. I cant explain how much I loved this..am lost for words but this isnt for everyone naturally

It seems,.. Rekha also had an evolution like MJ,.. and from da old filmen black / dark skin Rekha,... she turned and evolved  into a Pale one, thereafter,...

Being a male, and due to the natural opposite gender attraction, few of the movies,... couple were even flops and not so successful,.. during my teen-age time,  I had seen 2-3 times,... only bCoz it has Rekha's nakhtrein and  good looking, Sober Saree dresses,...

To name  a few,...  maang bharo sajna, Ghar,  Jeevan dhara, Judai,  Khoob-soorat, Kalyug,  Basera, Ijaajat, Khoon-paseena,  ,  Mr Natwarlal, Suhag,  Umrao jaan,  and all other successful ones,.. like Muqqdaar ka,.

The first five, I had seen 4-5+ times and still felt that, had not enough,..  as camera was close-captioned on acting part with full sober sarees,.. / Chulbuli nut-khat girl,..

To explore Rekha fully,  one must watch Simmi's Rendezvous,.. 18+ yrs old interviews of her, to know all about her,...in three parts below,. on Simmi's web page,...

πŸ˜† I think Rekha mentioned that she liked her acting performance in Ghar :)

And ya, her skin lightning is a mystery.. I guess they use some cosmetic treatment, who can say.. :)

Thankyou for the link! I have seen her rendezvous with Simi.. it is those interviews that made me fall in love with her..those interviews do reveal quite a lot about the person she is.. she is still very intriguing πŸ˜ƒ
