"Mankind must put an end to war before war puts an end to mankind."
- John F. Kennedy

Regularly, millions of children deal with vulnerable situations and effects of wars, world widely. They deal with a reality of mislaying their family which results, to send them in the circumstances because of which they undergo trauma in emotional and psychological life. In civil wars, majorly, they deal with vulnerable violence in the absence of security. They become refugees or breath last after suffering fromstarvation, malnutrition or lack of medical facilities. Due to wars, children fail to go to the most peaceful places of the world, like schools, colleges, temples or churches. Sometimes the heaven for the children, especially their own home, temples or school get targeted and make them hell. They face problems by witnessing incidents of violence, fear or losing their dignity, by sexual abuse. Some countries like Syria, Afghanistan or Iraq have become their hell, not abode.

They say,
"the smallest coffin is the heaviest"
,
but the child victims of wars, many a times witness their parents passing away from the world, with their own eyes, which has become a sin to the world, after all for the weak shoulders it is
very hard to deal with the coffin of their parents. This situation buries seeds of severe stress in their mind, heart and most importantly their souls.

An estimated 1,600 children have lost a parent, almost all of them fathers, to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

When children are victimized, their psychological and mental roots get uprooted and results in trauma. They face crucial stress while combat and suffer from Post - Traumatic Stressed Disorder in future, due to the non-humanitarian activities they have experienced. They havepanic attacks, anxiety disorders, nightmares, psychological, emotional and sexual trauma.

At least 3 million Syrian children under 6 "know nothing but war"

Sexual abuse or rape is not a disease of body, but mind or thinking. This is a violence in which a person tried to claim another body as his, without the consent of the particular person, suffering in it. It may because of lust or to threaten to kill or force them to give agreement to rest their bodies in front of the person, who is spreading this violence. Even the boys are not left from this disease of thinking.

...
In 2011, around 6,700 childrenunder 14 yearswere reported victims of sexual assault, 3 quarters of them were girl.
...

A child can be a direct victim in the war, when they are beaten, tortured or kidnapped, to spread or expose the height of violence and accomplish their goal, or force the child to be child soldier from a victim.

...
In Angola, it is reported that around 67 percent of children have been tortured, beaten or hurt.
...

Separation from family members in war can develop phobias, insomnia or other psychological factors which has a deep impact on the tender minds. Sometimes it is a long-term separation and after the war, parents are left searching for their children, who are now refugees, technically.

...
51% of world's refugees are children whereas according to another report, In refugee camps located in Pakistan and Iran, the number of child refugees can be up-to 1.5 million.
...

Physical injuries are not less painful then psychological. Serious injuries, when children are in war hurt them, with burn, loss of hearing, disability of walking etc., and many a times they are long lasting injuries.

...
As per the data of UNICEF4-5 million childrenare disabled after war.
...

Schools and hospital are in danger, this is nothing new. Due to the wars the children of the different nations are not able to go school and if they visit school, they have to face adverse effect of the war.

...
Since, 5 years the schools are closed due to wars in Syria. In Afghanistan, 164 attacks were on schools or the children have to pass from the fire, whereas In Iraq attacks occurred.
...

Child Trafficking is very common for the child refugees, in which girl child is sold, used and exploited by the others for money and boysbecome child soldiers.

As per the report of UNICEF, Mary, 17, from Nigeria has interviewed how an human trafficker forced her to share her body with him and threatened her at the gun point of taking her to Europe, he firstly raped her and she ended up reaching Libya for more than three months.

We at Crazy Creatives implore you to look into this issue and hope to try our best to help, however we can, the unfortunate young souls stuck in this fallacy called war.

When elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers - African proverb meaning that the weak get hurt in conflicts between the powerful.

Children never start wars yet they are the ones most vulnerable to the fatal effects of it. Wars kill children, deny them access to basic education and health services and increase poverty, malnutrition and disease. They can get separated from their parents, forced to flee their homes, even perpetrate war crimes themselves. All this can result in deep emotional scars and trauma from direct exposure to violence and children become anxious, depressed and withdrawn, or rebellious and aggressive.

"You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty."
--Mahatma Gandhi

Alleviating suffering in war-torn areas is a strenuous but crucial endeavor. Many compassionate organizations work for these children, giving them access to good food, safe drinking water, protecting against diseases and most importantly giving them mental support which they need in such crucial time of their lives. Following are some of the organizations who are the front runners for helping children of war ::

1. UNICEF

UNICEF works in 190 countries and territories to protect the rights of every child. In countries experiencing conflict and upheaval such as Syria, Nigeria, South Sudan, and Central African Republic, and Iraq, UNICEF protects children from military conscription, works to stop trafficking and helps child soldiers reintegrate into their communities. UNICEF advocates to protect children and women in conflict from the systematic sexual violence that is increasingly used as a weapon of war and works to help victims of that abuse. Without protection from violence and exploitation, the basic survival and development of children is at risk.

2. Child Victims of War

Child Victims of War creates awareness on the impact of modern warfare on children. They campaign against militarism and military intervention, and for the rights of children, women and the environment.

3. War Child

War Child International is comprised of three implementing officesWar Child UK, War Child Holland and War Child Canada. They are committed to protecting and supportingchildren affected by armed conflict. Children have the skills and ability to shape their lives and cope with adversity, even in the face of an armed conflict.

4. Children of War Foundation

The Children and War Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to improvingchildren's lives after wars and disasters. The Children and War Foundation was established inBergen in 2000. Two professional groups, The Center for Crisis Psychology in Bergen, and The Institute of Psychiatry in London, have been instrumental in setting up this foundation. They have developed measures which enable large groups of children to be reached after wars and children at a high risk to be identified quickly after a traumatic event.

Keeps The Promise - Children & War Foundation

A senior at Boston university studying psychology says,"beyond death, injury, exploitation and displacement, children in war zones are often emotionally damaged and suffer post traumatic stress disorder(PTSD). They typically lose years of education and the level of violence they see can alter their normal development and lead to a skewed sense of reality."

If we hope to live win a peaceful and just world, we must start with the children because they are the seeds of change we hope to see.

Well said. These kids suffer for no fault of theirs. I cannot imagine what their life would be after going through all this.
The worst would be when they imbibe war crimes themselves.
And all the organisations working for their welfare are doing a great job.
Thanks for bringing up this topic, CC!
