Today we bring you the interview conducted by the team at orbit Tv Arabia on 'Alkahera El Yom' sometime in 2011 for Cairo Today.
This is a tv recorded television interview, the very first tv interview Engin has ever given to any international Arabic channel which was specially conducted in Istanbul Turkey. This is the English translation of that interview which was originally in a mix of Arabic and Turkish.

Interviewer:' Finally our meeting with Kerim or Engin as they call him in Turkish, his first interview with any tv channel, with us on 'alkahera el yom on orbit tv!
Engin we welcome you on 'elkahera el yom' program and we welcome you on Arab and Egyptian screen too. Congratulations for the show!'
Engin: 'Indeed I should be saying welcome to you... Welcome to our country.'
Interviewer: ' I want to tell you that you have lots of fans in Egypt and Arab world, and lots of girls are envying me now because I'm sitting and talking to you. So I deliver to you all the greetings and admiration of all fans who are watching Fatma series and your amazing role.'
Engin: Thank you
Interviewer: 'Tell me about that role. What made you do it, it's a very hard role, what made you do it, how did you read it, how did you prepare yourself for it?'
Engin: Yes. At the beginning, Kerim's character was not an easy one with whom the audience would connect. Fatmagul was telling a victim's story, it was Fatmagul's story.
However, Kerim was the male victim of the same story. It was a role that demanded both the expression of that victimhood and his love for Fatmagul. I had to deliver the healing process of him together with hers.Yes, there are always some difficulties with each role at the beginning and the connection of the actor with that role differs. I had to relate to that and hopefully I was able to manage that.
Interviewer: 'Kerim, people who follow you see that you are an amazing actor because you act with your eyes and numerous expressions, and that is very hard to do with all these emotions.'
Engin: 'I believe being an actor is something like that. And thank you for expressing that.
I am so glad that I was able to make people feel these emotions. But being an actor requires that. I believe that's how it should be performed.
In addition, I always thought a person like Kerim who is introverted and not expressing his feelings much should somehow connect to the audience...'
Interviewer: 'There is something strange, it's that we see you dubbed but we understand you and feel like you are one of us, we feel for you and feel your problem, and sense your love for FG. How did the show reach Arab viewers so easily?
Engin: 'I believe that's being human. It is very important to be able to convey the universal feelings so that when people from other languages watch us they would feel the common emotions and sufferings. So when we live through a feeling, a pain; someone else in Egypt can also be living through the same thing. Capturing these is important.'

Interviewer: ' Akhirkaar humari pehli mulakaat Kerim kay saath, Jo Turkey mein Engin ke naam se jaanay jaatay hain, Inka kisi bhi tv channel ke saath sab sey pehla interview jo humaray saath 'Alkahera el yom ' orbit Tv ke saath honey jaa raha hai!
Engin hum apka humaray show ' Alkahera Al Yom' par aur Arab aur Misri tv screens par apka bohot khushi say istaqbaal kartey hain...Is show ke liye bhi bohot mubarakbaad dete jaatay hain.'
Engin: ' waqaee, asliyat mein mujhay apka istaqbaal karna chahiye...Khush amdeed, humaray mulk aap aye.
Interviewer: 'mein apko batana chahti hoo key apke arab aur misri mumalik mein beshumaar fans hain, aur bohot si larkian shayad is waqt mujh say jal rahi hongi kyun ke mein is waqt yaha baythee apse baat kar rahi hoo,Isliye mein un tamaam fans ki taraf se apko mubarakbaad aur salam dena chahti hoo, jo iss waqt apka show fatmagul aur apke kirdaar ko dekh rahay hain aur sehra rahay hain.'
Engin: ' Aapka Shukria!'
Interviewer: ' Aap iss kirdaar ke baray mein kuch bataein.AAp ne yeh karna kyu pasand kiya, jaisey hum jaantay hain yeh aik kaafi mushkil kirdaar hai,aapne is ko nibhaaney ke liye khud ko kis tarha tayaar kiya, aur kya aap nay iske liye kaafi mutala kiya?
Engin: ' jee haan...shuru shuru mein karim ka kirdaar nibhaana kaafi mushkil thaa, kyun ke yeh aisa kirdaar nahi hai jis kay saath nazreen asaani se koi taluq yah rishta kaem kar sakain. Fatmagul (series) aik mazloom larki ki kahani hai...woh fatmagul ki kahaani hai.
Taahim, karim bhi is kahaani ka aik mazloom kirdaar hai, Yeh aisa kirdaar tha jisko nibhaanay ke liye zaroori tha ke aik mazloom ke jazbaat aur saath mein fatmagul ki mohabbat me mubtala ashiq ke jazbaat bhi nazreen ko nazar aaein.Inn dono ne jo apne zakham bharnay ka safar tay karna tha, mujhay us ka izhaar aik saath karna tha.
Haan, shuruwaat mein har kirdaar ko nibhanay mein mushkilaat peysh ati hain kyuke aik adakaar ka hal kism ke kirdaar ke saath aik makhsoos qism rabta kaim hota hai. Mujhe woh rishta kaim karna tha aur umeed hai mein us me kamyaab raha hoon.
Interviewer: 'Kerim (Engin), jo log apka show dekh rahay hai bol rahay hain keh aap bohot hi zabardast actor hain, aur app apni ankhon se aur behtereen jazbaat dikha keh adakaari kartay hai, aur yeh sab toh kaafi mushkil hoga?'
Engin: 'Mujhay lagta hai aik adakaar kuch aisa hi hota hai, aur yeh sab zahir karne ke liye apka shukria!
Mujhe khushi hai keh mein ney logo mein yeh ehsasaat paida kiye hain, aik adakaar hone keh liye yeh sab karna laazmi hota hai. Mere lihaaz se, adakaari aisey hi karni chahiye hai.
Berhaal, Karim zyada bolta nahi hai aur apnay ehsasaat zyada zahir nahi hone deta, mujhay laga ke nazreen ke saath uska rishta kaim karne ke liye yehi aik tareeka tha taakay log usko kuch samajh sakain.
Interviewer: ' yeh bari ajeeb baat hai, lekin jab hum apko tv par dekhte hain toh hum apke kirdaar ki takleef ko mehsoos kar saktey hai aur apko samjah sakte hai, hum apke kirdaar ke liye dil me narmi rakhte hai aur joh muhabbat Fatmagul ke liye ap zahir karte hai woh bhi hum samajh sakte hain, hala ke zaban ka faraq hai, aap ko dubb kiya gaya hai...Aapke khayal mein is show ne itni asani se arab nazreen ka dil kaisey jeet liya?
Engin:' Mere khayal mein isko 'insaan hona' kehtey hain...Yeh zaroori hota hai keh hum apne ehsasaat aise zahir karein ke dunya ke koi bhi door daraz kone mein bhi log hoo toh humein samajh sakein ke kya kaha jaa raha hai, aur log wohi ehsasaat aur takleef mehsoos kar sakain jo kirdaar kar raha hai. Iss hi liye hum tv par aisee takleef ya koi pareshaani peysh karte hain jo shayad kisi ne kabhi egypt mein bhi waisey hi mehsoos ki huwi ho. Interviewer: There is something strange, it's that we see you dubbed but we understand you and feel like you are one of us, we feel for you and feel your problem, and sense your love for FG. How did the show reach Arab viewers so easily?
Engin: I believe that's being human. It is very important to be able to convey the universal feelings so that when people from other languages watch us they would feel the common emotions and sufferings. So when we live through a feeling, a pain; someone else in Egypt can also be living through the same thing. Capturing these is important.-That's right and I greet you for it because you deliver humanity
Interviewer: Is that your first show with Beren Saat?
Engin: Yes
Interviewer: And are you thinking about making other projects with her after this success?
Engin: sure, why not.
Interviewer: You are now lovers in the eyes of the viewers, what does Turkish viewers say about the show? Because i know what Egyptians and Arabs say, but here in Turkey what do they say?
Engin: It is a bit different here because our media here is also watching our personal lives. But people who only watch the series closely might end up perceiving us based on the character that we play.
Interviewer: The show is almost over and we are here in the place where you shoot the second season, when you and FG moved to the same house
Engin: Yes
Interviewer: Finally what do you want to say to all the viewers and people following you in Arab world and everyone watching the show, from Engin or Kerim what do you want to say?
Engin: Actually if we were to give a message, I should mention something from our series. Yes, in life very bad things might happen to us. But the important thing is what will follow afterwards. Despite all, we might have people like Kerim in our lives. We should pay attention to not to look at the situations from an unhappy point of view.
Interviewer: Everyone hopes to find a Kerim. You are competing with the actor,Kvan, who is well known in Arab world and you're now competing with him in Turkey too. Can you see how strong is this competition now?
Engin: (his gesture means "I don't know" and smiles)
Interviewer: Finally I wish for you best luck/succes and inshaa Allah you come and visit Egypt soon and come with us on our program
Engin: InsaAllah... Thank you for coming

Interviewer: Kia yeh apka beren saat ke saath pehla show hai?
Engin: jee haan. (pehla show hai)
Interviewer: Aur kya is show ke baad app unke saath mazeed dramo mein hisa lene ka soch rahe hai,unke saath aur dramay karaingae ?
Engin: jee zaroor, kyu nahi.
Interviewer: naazreen ki nazron mein app dono aik romantic couple ki tarha dekhay jaate hain.Turkey mein nazreen kya sochtay hain, hum apko Arab aur Masr ke nazreen ke khayalaat zahir kar sakte hain, lekin hum jaan na cvhahaingay ke Turkey ke nazreen show (aur app dono ke) baray mein kya kehte hain?
Engin: Turkey mein mukhtalif khayalaat hain kyuke yahaan media humari zaati zindagi ke barey mein bhi khabar rakhti hai. magar jo humara drama ke shaukeen hai, usse ghor se dekhtay hai aur isi bunyaad par humain kidaar se alag nahi samjhte aur humain aik samajhlete hain.
Interviewer: show apneikhtataam par pohonch chuka hai, aur hum (arab aur masr) mein doosre season dekhna shuru karaingay, jab aap aur fatma aik hi chat ke neechay rehna shuru ho gae hain.
Engin: jee,bilkul.
Interviewer: Acha, toh app Enginya Kerim ki taraf se apke show ke nazreen ko kya kehna pasand karaingae?
Engin: Jee agar humain koi message dena ho toh apne show ka dena pasand karunga. woh yeh, ke yaqeenan hamari zindagi mein humaray saath kuch na kuch bura hota hai,magar ehem baat jo hamein yaad rakhni chahiye hai ke us ke is sab ke bawajood mustakbil mein kya hoga aur kaise din ayeingay, har cheez hone ke bawajood humari zindagi mein chand log karim jese bhi hote hai (humain sahara dene ke liye), hamara nazariya sirf naumeedi par atal na ho, apne halaat ko le kar afsoorda nahi rehna chahiye.
Interviewer: Har kisi ko aik kerim ki talaash hai...Toh app kivanc actor ke saath adakaari mein muqabla kar rahe hain, jo Arab ki dunya mein bhi mashoor hain, app arab aur Turkey mein dono jagah unse adaakaari mein muqabla kar rahe hain, Kya Is muqablay ki shiddat aur sakhti apko nazar arahi hai?
Engin: (Engin ishara karte hain 'mujhe nahi maloon' aur phir khoob muskuraatay hain...)
Interviewer: Akhir mein..mein aapki tarakee aur khushkismati ke liye dhair saari duain karti hoo, aur Inshallah umeed hai ke aap zaroor Egypt ayein gae aur hamaray program ka hisa phir se banay gae...

Kiss But Never Tell
Interviewer: 'We didnt want to leave after learning you were in the meeting'
Engin: 'oh so thats how it is...'
Interviewer: 'Mustafa Bulut was a strange person, he was split between the lover and the hater, was it hard for you to do a character like that?'
Engin; 'Not at all (laughing) one day when we were shotting at Diar Baker, a woman was looking at me nervously while eating her nails. she approached me and said i hate you very much why dont you leave the girl in peace . (he laughs) i was shocked a little, but i knew after that. it could only mean that I'm portraying the character the right way, thats why they feel like this is who you really are. and thats what we look for in our job.'
Interviewer: 'To be honest people till now still feel heartbroken for your suffering and they ended up by your side regardless of your mean character.'
Engin: 'So thats how it is (laughing) people got the meaning of the character and how he felt and thats why they loved mustafa.'
Interviewer: 'Did your real personality have an influence on mustafa's character?'
Engin: 'No, but there are common points between us, but if am acting the character in a good way that doesnt mean thats how my personality is. for example if a girl is running away from me and doesnt want me i wont chase her,maybe like her within myself... but this is a character and we have to make it by changing our behavior, clothing, talking... i would say my personality is closer to Kerim's and i dont find difficulty in acting his role and i like that character.'
Interviewer: 'Is there a big love in your life like mustafa and kerim?'
Engin: 'Mustafa's love was crazy, an obsession. but he was very smart and used to lose control of himself.
but kerim's love is real and not an obsession, he is in love in a way any person would be and could control his feelings, and here is the bases of the character, its based on beautiful feelings and building a loving relationship that was brought out of pain, sadness and hate. thats why there are great improvements between fg+k in season 2.'
Interviewer: 'Even after all this success and you have huge number of fans why dont you appear and make interviews?'
Engin: 'From the bottom of my heart i thank those who love me and i love them too. Am here. but i dont like exposing my personal life. if you have questions about my work i will be more than happy to answer but most people want the personal stuff and thats what i dont like.'
Interviewer: 'But they want to learn about you.'
Engin: 'And i am like them but i want my privacy too.'
Interviewer: 'Do you have a lover or is living a love story?'
Engin: (starts laughing) 'who doesnt fall in love?...thank you!'

Engin:' nahee bilkul nahi...(yeh muskuratay huway kaha). Aik din hum 'Diak Baker' mein shooting kar rahe thay ,keh aik bohot pareshaan si aurat apne nakhun chaabaatay huway mere pass aye aur kehne lagi ke mein aapse bohot nafrat karti hoon ap us bechari larki to akayla chor kyun nahi dete...(woh hansne lagey)...mein thora hayraan ho gaya, magar mujhe phir yakeen hogaya ke mein apne kirdaar ko us hi tarha nibhaa raha hoo jaisay use dikhna chahiye, is hi liye logo ko lagta hai keh hum asal zindagi mein bhi apne kirdaar jaisey hongay, aur hum apne kaam mein bhi yehi dhoondtay hai ke log humain apne kirdaar se alag nah samjhain.'
Interviewer:' Sach kaha jaein to log abhi tak mustafa bulut jaisey kirdar ki kamzorion ko darzugar karte huway us ki takleef mehsoos kartay hain aur us ke liye naram jazbaat rakhtey hain aur aapke liye hamdardi rakhtey hain.'
Engin:' oh acha toh phir aisa hai..(yeh hastay huway kaha)...logon ko mere kirdaar ke maenay samajh aaye, unho ne mehsoos kiya, aur is hi liye mustafa ko bhi bohot pasand kiya...
Interviewer:' kya mustafa bulut ke kirdaar mein apki haqeeqi shaksiat ka bhi koi rang nazar ata hai?'
Engin:' nahee, laykin kuch mushtarka nukaat ho saktay hain, agar mein koi kirdaar bakhooby nibha raha hoo iska katae yeh matlab nahi hota keh asal zindagi mein bhi meri shaksiat us kirdar jaisy hai. matlab asal zindagi mein koi larki mujhay pasand nahi karti toh mein bhi uskay peechay nahi bhagoonga,dil hi dil mein shayad usay pasand karta rahoon...magar yeh sirf aik kirdaar hai aur hamain isko haqeeqat se kareebtar bananay ke liye apne rang or roop ko kirdaar ke rang o roop mein dhalna parta hai, jaisey pehnava,andaaz,lehja...mein yeh kahoonga ke meri shaksiat karim se zyada milti julti hai aur ussay nibhaanay mein koi mushkilaat bhi paysh nahi atai, mujhey yeh kirdaar bhi bohot pasand hai.'
Interviewer:' kya aapki zindagi mein bhi Mustafa aur karim jaisey koi mohabbat hai? '
Engin:' mustafa ki mohabbat aik pagalpan hai, aik junoon hai, woh bohot hoshiar hai magar kabhi kabhi khud par kaboo nahi rakh sakta hai, halakay karim ki mohabbat sachi hai... aik junoon nahi, woh aisay hi mohabbat karta hai jaisey koi bhi aam admi karta hai aur apne ehsasaat ko kaboo mein rakhne ki qabliat bhi rakhta hai.Aur yehi is kirdaar ki bunyaad hai, woh mayoosi,nafrat aur dard key ehsaasaat me lipta hota hai magar waqt ke saath saath khoobsorat jazbaat us mein paida hotay hain aur phir woh mohabbat aur pyar ke ehsasaat mein tabdeel hojaatay hain. Iss hi wajah se season 2 mein FG+ K ke talukaat mein bhi kaafi tabdeeli nazar atai hai...'
Interviewer:' Itni kamiabi aur bey intiha fans honay ke bawajood aap interviews nahi daytay aur events wagaira mein bhi nazar nahi atay...'?
Engin:' Mein apne dil ki gehrain se keh raha hoon... key mein apne fans ko bhi utni hi mohabbat karta hoo jitni woh mujhse karte hai, aur dil se unka shukria kar raha hoon, aur mein unke liye hamaisha yaha rahoonga. mujhe bass apni zaati zindagi ko benakab karna pasand nahi hai, mere kaam ke baray mein agar sawalaat hotay hain toh mein jawab de sakta hoon, magar logo ko jab meri zaati zindagi mein dilchasbi hoti hai toh uska jawab dena mujhe pasand nahee hai...'
Interviewer: 'Lekin woh apke baray mein jaan na chahtay hain...'
Engin:' mein sab ki tarha hoo bus apnay zaati masael ki hifazat karta hoo...'
Interviewer:' kya aapki zindagi mein koi hai...mohabbat wagaira?
