The Journey Down The Memory Lane
As our beloved show Thapki...Pyaar Ki has finally completed one year, it is time to remind us of this beautiful journey. So, are you guys ready to take this journey down the memory lane? Let's begin!!
The story and the concept behind Thapki...Pyaar Ki is an unique and inspirational one. The show try to give us the message that nobody is perfect in this world but some people take their imperfections as their best drawbacks whereas someone gets motivated by it and try to march forward. Those people can do wonders and the thing is that all they need is just a pat of love.
It is the story of Thapki, a girl who is humiliated on daily basis due to her stammering. It is the story of this girl, who even after all the obstacle managed to get the happiness and love. The serial starts with her marriage alliance with a mean man Diwakar. Everyone accepts the alliance of Thapki and Diwakar. However, he is not happy with the fact that he is marrying a girl with a stutter. On their wedding day, he insults Thapki and her family. Thapki refused to bow down to his demands and insults and she broke the alliance. A heartbroken Thapki feels dejected but tries to keep this away from the family. She ends up breaking down with her family as everyone feels sympathetic towards her for her relation breaking. Her youngest brother filled out a job application for Thapki. A letter comes with states that she has a job interview at 360 news channel. She rejects at first but due to the words of Dhruv on the news channel, she decides that change is good. So with her mother, they decide to go for the interview. She ends up getting a job due to the famous Dhruv Pandey as she correctly calculates a meter fare. Thapki was subjected to lots of humiliation even at the workplace but she never deterred in front of the situation and took her chance. Circumstances brought her closer to her employer and he fell in love. Dhruv's family is one of the influential families in Noida and his mother chose Thapki for her son. Vasunadhara Pandey, Dhruv's mother is obsesses with perfection and she didn't come to know about Thapki's stammering till the last moment.
Preparations of the marriage were done and everyone in both the families was happy, except Vasu. She did not want Thapki to get married to Dhruv and did her best to break the marriage. Here comes the main and central twist in the story. Balwinder Pandey, Dhruv's father adopted a boy long time back and everyone in the family loves him equally. But the thing Bihaan Pandey, Dhruv's adopted brother, always craved was his mother's love. Vasu never starved or neglected him but she didn't care for him either. But during her endless trials to broke Dhruv's marriage, Bihaan came to know about it and he confronted her. Vasu took this golden chance and asked him to break the marriage. He was unwilling at first but Vasu blackmailed him emotionally to get the thing done. When every effort was failed, Bihaan tried to stop Dhruv from going to the marriage aisle for the last time. He hit his brother on the head and Dhruv became unconscious. Vasu forcefully sent Bihaan in Dhruv's place and Thapki got married to Bihaan instead of Dhruv.
Bihaan and Thapki never saw eye to eye before the marriage. They shared a cat-mouse relation and it was degraded once the marriage truth came to light. Thapki did not accept this stroke of her fate and did declare that she didn't accept this marriage. But as this is a Hindi daily soap, she had to come back to pandey nivas and stay with Bihaan. Here comes the beauty of the story that like other FLs, Thapki did stand against the injustice done to her. She fought for her justice and it was decided that they will be divorced after a three months period. Days passed and under different conditions, Thapki and Bihaan came closer to each other. Vasu tried to get Thapki out but everytime Thapki came closer to the family and Bihaan. They stand for each other at the time of crisis and fought for the family's honour. Vasu and Shadz kept on plotting against Thapki to try and drive her out of the house. They made Preeti and Suman turn against Thapki by ruining their anniversary party, shadz put hair removal cream in Babuji's beard product and other stuff which turned the whole family against Thapki.
They were forced to live in the cowshed but Bihaan stood for her like a rock to prove Thapki's innocence in front of the family. They bonded over pain, sadness but the moments they share were full of love and care unknown to both of them.

Thapki's biggest hurdle was when she had to bargain her marriage for Bihaan's love. He was shot while trying to save Thapki from humiliation in a hotel. Vasu gave Bihaan her blood on the clause that she will divorce him on holi. At that time, Thapki agreed and she did her best to save Bihaan from everything. In the mean time, Bihaan fall in love with her. But his dreams were shattered when Thapki asked for divorce. He asked her for another chance but when she did not answer him, Bihaan, with immense pain, signed the divorce papers. But to his and the family's astonishment, Thapki refused to sign the divorce papers and agreed to give Bihaan a new chance. Bihaan was overjoyed and he started to love her deeply. On his father's insist, Bihaan tried to propose Thapki but all his dreams and his heart broke when he came to know that Thapki lied to know the truth behind their marriage. Bihaan was enraged and he told Thapki that he hates her.
In the meantime, Thapki asked Vasu to examine her and Shradha, Dhruv's wife whom he married on impulse, a fair chance to prove themselves. Vasu agreed and Thapki showed her that stammering is not Thapki's drawback but her qualities are her strength. Vasu understood that she did a great mistake by undermining Thapki's qualities. She started loving Thapki. But the biggest shock came in guise of Shrdha. Vasu thought that she bought the best girl for her son but when she came to know that Shradha is very evil, she tried to throw her out of the house. But cunning Shradha faked her pregnancy and remained in the house.
Bihaan was angry at Thapki and he started to misbehave with her. He did exactly what Thapki asked him not to do. But Thapki tried to win his trust back. But she failed miserably and at her last attempt to say sorry to Bihaan, the family got engaged with the affair. Bihaan fought with the whole family, blamed Thapki for his condition and at the end, Balwinder Pandey got stabbed. Everyone blamed Bihaan as he was last seen with him with a knife. But Thapki believed him and stood against the family to save Bihaan. Finally, Thapki was able to prove that Bihaan was innocent and it was another person who stabbed bauji.
Happiness has started to fill Thapki and Bihaan's lives. Bihaan is trying to confess his love to Thapki and Thapki has started to realise that she has fallen in love with her husband.
Though the story revolves around Thapki's struggle but it is not only the story of Thapki only as the message before every episode says that this serial is inspired by the people who know how to walk forward in spite of many obstacles in their life. It is the story of that pat of love that pushes people like Thapki forward. And in Thapki's life, that pat of love is Bihaan. That clearly indicates that it is also the story of Bihaan. It is the story of that orphan, who to save his family's honour, lost his own chance of love and happiness by marrying Thapki. He was emotionally blackmailed by his mother into marrying Thapki and even after facing constant humiliation; he did everything for Thapki and his family.
It is the story of two different people, who under circumstances became husband wife and hated each other, but gradually began to help each other in different situation. It is the story of two people who are ill treated by the society and family equally, but still are doing their best to make everyone happy. Stammering does not make you imperfect nor does illiteracy. The perfectness lies in your heart and both Thapki and Bihaan have good hearts.
Bihaan is in love and Thapki is about to realise her love for Bihaan. Happiness has started coming in their way and their journey has just began. Are you with them in all those time?

And when Thapki went to tell him the truth after knowing the truth, she found him angry and broken. In anger, he promised that she will see his hatred. And he did show it when his heart longed only her. Thapki tried to ammend the relation but Bihaan was blind in his rage. He fought with her, blammed her and it ked to ugly situations when he was blamed to stab his father. Little did he know that it was test for both of them where they have to fight against the family, hand in hand.
And they fought. Thapki risked her life to save Bihaan. She declared that she can do anything for Bihaan. And she did everything and when Bihaan was freed, she shed tears of happiness. Little did she know that it's the beginning of the new story, a story full of love and utter bliss.
