IKRS Sunday 15th May 2016 ep 248 My Take ~on your knees! but off the hook!

Many human decisions and judgements are influenced  by the implications  they are likely to  have on one's personal repute and stature. Factors like respectability, loss of public face and power, consideration for family demands surface, and decisions can easily be swayed and to reversed from right  to wrong , thus causing  a   miscarriage of judgement. The episode also tackles with situations where the issue of morality is thrown in too , to deviate and tone down a heinous punishable act. More so to protect crime ,  emotional  familial blackmail is brought in. Thus Dashrant veers Viplav from the real issue of and manipulates him to let Asthana off the hook!

Viplav  reiterates to Dashrant, Asthana not only defiled  Dhani but dishonoured the family name as  well. Viplav  is met with  emotional pleas from his dada ji . Its best he forgives the man as they still have to face , the community  around them.  Dhani  wonders  what decision her  husband takes .Viplav  for a moment is disappointed, by his dadaji's  suggestion. Painstakingly  he considers the fact  that the issue is  more about  dadaji's reputation in society at large, and not as much, Dhani's maltreatment  at the hands of Asthana. Viplav as the considerate  son  mitigates his approach, but in terms of crime  being punished, his stance still holds firm.  He demands Asthana carries out a public apology in a physically prostrate manner, rubbing his nose on the ground. The nose is the projected three dimensional feature, the central point of the face. The act of rubbing ones nose on the ground is visually a humiliating  and demeaning  sight. Since the face is an  individual's , pride demanding it to be lowered against the ground! where people set the lowliest part of their body ,their  feet! The  aim is to bruise the ego and high station  of Asthana .Viplav's verdict on Asthana is designed  to make  the pervert realize  , he was  seen  as a man  who stood on high  moral ground. Now that ground looks terribly shaky! Viplav  asks  Dhani , she too is  ready to step back for dada ji' respect. Viplav thus offers the  offender choice of prison or  public apology. Asthana  apologizes!  Without an aorta of remorse, in fact he already considers a back lash for the tirpathis for  his insult!  #  Kamini to  save face, and to ascertain if  Dhani be grudges her in any way? tenders   Dhani an apology, as she set her up with the night school. Tries once again the technique of bailing Dhani out of this mess that has backfired. But dhani  sets  Kamini right, as  she adds in, it's no issue as Viplav ,the one who matters to her is on   Dhani's side.  Kamini accepts this bitterly , but  secretly continues to consider  Dhani  as a stupid gullible girl! However  Kamini needs to face it her strong hold on  Dhani is weakening..

The public may have dispersed but the family court room drama is under way.  Dashrant  commands the proceedings, moots the judge misunderstands  Dhani, and the school she attends.  Bua too catches on and throws the onus on  Dhani going to night schoo!l and what people are likely to say about  Dhani. Viplav growls , are they more bothered about  what people say? and less about  Dhani's intent?dashrant   presses  on that both Asthana  and him have suffered equal measures  of public humiliation. But Viplav backs his wife and insists , why is wife  Dhani   made to feel the guilty one? when  the judge is clearly   in the wrong?   Dhani clearly went to acquire education! Symbolically he places  the evidence of her work , near the scrolls of scriptures  that are meant to teach and instruct! Viplav  asks dadi would she not laud the effort and commitment  Dhani puts in  to acquire education? All day she works and manages time to  learn at night?dadi  praises  Dhani that  one issue the family had with  Dhani was her illiteracy ,  but that too she has attempted to resolve. So clearly as expected, dadi continues to show support to Viplav and  Dhani. But Bua, as expected,  drags in the issue of night school!  Dhani's character can be seen as doubtful, and not Asthana's.  Kanak  who loathes   Dhani,  always considered her characterless jumps in!  joins in the anti Dhani gang! badmouths and mocks  Dhani.  With Kanak and Bua,Dashrant  too  joins forces, to pressurize Viplav and  Dhani. Had she shown interest in learning before him ,he would have arranged for a  home tutor! Viplav  argues, she wanted to surprise him!! with her learning and effort! He is very pleased! But Kanak butts in  that in order to please Viplav , Dhani is happy to smear the reputation of the whole family   name!Viplav  roars , he is shocked  instead of supporting  Dhani's effort ,being a buttress for the  trauma  she suffered!! they fall on her like a ton of bricks, and turn a blind eye to the judges s dastardly  deed !. Dashrant  changes  technique  of veering the guns off Asthana. on to   Dhani. Viplav  raises the question of the stereotype  issue ,if a woman steps out of the house  even for  a purposeful  mission, her virtue is automatically on the line  due to gender issues! Viplav challenges the issue of denied  equal opportunities on gender basis in many societies across the world ..viplav makes it clear to Dashrant , due to him he lets Asthana go!  otherwise  he would have killed him! Dashrant  replies, if Viplav would have fought against the judge he would be the one to suffer defeat! but Viplav tells everyone that his dada ji might be intimidated by the judge not him!what  ofjustice  for a girls honour that  Asthana defiled? Dashrant morally decadent and blind, scoffs what justice injustice  does Viplav harp on about? he warns Viplav that the man is influential, and will eventually  go to any lengths  to prove  Dhani  to be the characterless one! that even Viplav himself will begin to be swayed by that! He reminds Viplav, dropping  Dhani home ,returning her jhumka's all go in his favour and against  Dhani!bua adds let it be..viplav is totally under this girls spell ,he fails to see anything beyond! Had it been some other man he would have kicked her out by now! but Viplav once again for the umpteenth time presses upon his family... abandon  Dhani? its never going to happen and he puts a  protective arm around her shoulders ! dadi suggests   he'd best take  Dhani  to their room! its late.but Dashrant , drums in  confirming to the way of the world as we have to show our face  and live in society ..hence he needs to learn to abide by the custom and practices imposed  by society by them ,hypocritically he adds in, he too is livid about his daughter in law being maligned. This only done so to bluff Viplav  and win his ongoing trust! Dadi reiterates Viplav take  Dhani and leave.   Kanak  continues seems Viplav is under the spell of a witch! As he only sees  Dhani in the right! Dadi yet again bravely stands up for  Dhani. whether they accept or not  Dhani is a good soul!she fails to understand why everyone present here is against her!so the scene once again shows who are proDhani and who the anti  Dhani lot are?

The expert commends the novice on her  dirty game.  Kamini gathers the applaud and confesses she set the class and Asthana  up against  Dhani to bring her low before Viplav and his families eyes but  last minute somehow things backfired but she knows how to  stand up again, after all resilience is a  strength she  taught her , Kamini tells Bua! In fact  Kamini  threatens Bua that she is the one who incited this  all in her, led her to play this dirty dangerous game! But Bua backs off from Kamini! and tells her  she wished to make her  the  bahu of this house, one who upholds  the good name and reputation of Tirpathi family! not blemish it like she did by this whole sordid affair! So does Kamini lose her back up support  from Bua too?

Some apologies and regrets from Dhani before Viplav..he reminds her it was she who mentioned that there is no room for questions, answers and explanations in their relationship... trust is upon which their bond hinges. He loves her and   says if at all she wishes to make amends, then three magic words  from his wife should  do the trick!  She is his wife in whose  hair parting  he fills with vermillion every single day.. but what if by perchance he misses to  do it one day ,as life is unpredictable  things are subject to change! its the way of the world here today ,tomorrow gone! Dhani fears his words, but Viplav talks about the use and permanence of knowledge ,learning and education! all things pass, but  knowledge  lasts  within  us .It survives and  has the provision to extend itself and further more enrich our life with its lasting effect! Her education neither time ,nor malicious people can steal from her! this is Viplav's  support he gives to his beloved wife in wake of all the recent gruelling experiences they have suffered.

no surprises.. Asthana pairs up  with phool chand who'll do anything to make a  few fast bucks!besides he was never a fan of dashrant.

They plan a robbery in Dashrant's house ,target sita mandir stash of gold donations.. a robbery really happens this time..the robber even knows where the loot is kept!

Another   solid episode, tackiling  bold subjects of middle class morality,  gender discrimination in  certain walks of life... and the best one.. education  being a gem , once derived stays with a person for life...   hamlet53 16.5.16

Great take, dear Hammie. As you say, it was a wonderful episode. What is wi this Tripathi clan that they do repeatedly strive to suppress justice in the name of culture and reputation, especially if the person being denied justice is Dhani. We saw the same thing in the Raja track also. This is a testament of how poorly the family members save for Vip and Dadi view Dhani.
I enjoyed the dressing down that Kamini received from Bua, although it was for the wrong reasons.

Very sleepy now and will catch up with you later. Meanwhile be well and have a great day.

Dear Hammie...very well written as usual...πŸ˜† apt title loved it suits Asthana ...rassi jal gayi magar bal nahi gaya...This Asthana even if he rubs his nose or head or anything else also he would never regret his crime...DT and his prestige does he think even if he lets Asthana go free that judge would spare him...this guy dares to back lash at dhani point out at her character even after getting punished in front of so many people...Money talks and walks unfortunately people with power misuse it to satisfy their needs...and they go commit n no of crimes, they cover it up and put the blame on the innocent.

This AN clan is so blind that they can't see that judge's crime...all they have is some frozen ideas and thoughts regarding dhani...nara laga ke chalte hain sab  πŸ˜†...One after the other they attack dhani...what if same incident occurred with KM?? Will they sit quite and watch...women are woman's worst enemies how many times will they prove...Dhani has goneto school to get educated they have a problem with this as well...even if she is uneducated that is also a problem...kare bhi toh kya kare ???πŸ˜• They need some excuse to blame her.Women are always at fault in the society such a shame ...anything wrong happens blame it on a woman...accha ya bura aurat hi zimmedar hain. πŸ˜’

Km got a nice lecture from bua...for once I'm glad that she was against km πŸ˜† served her right...yeh km gayi kaam se ...obsessed creature one fine day she will be badly caught red handed. She is not worth being called a human being let alone a woman...Loved viplav's trust in dhani thank God he din't ask her any questions just understood and supported her...Do such people really exist?? Such strong faith and trust in dhani he has loved the way he stood by her like always...Mishal excels in such scenes where he has to defend dhani πŸ˜† pata nahi kyun they are my fav.

This PC what is he up to ...enemies enemy is a friend so PC and Asthana became friends ...they are going against DT...he took the wealth of the public ...kamina is he any different from DT...See Hammie how many enemies did DT make πŸ˜† ek ek gali main hai shayad πŸ˜†harkaton se baaz nahi ata phir...Lets see what's gonna happen next.

Enjoyed reading your take...till then take care.

No kidding about the title. Everyone is worried about the Tripathi family reputation and the power of the judge. No one consoles Dhani for the tremendous trauma she went through. Why are attempted or rape scenes taken so lightly on television. Edited by captkirk - 8 years ago

On your Knees ! But off the hook.

Your title sounds like a one liner from "Dennis the Menance" comic strip. A kid getting admonished for his latest prank. In the case of this episode it is definitely not a kid nor is it a harmless prank that needs to be reprimanded but a serious crime by a well respected man in the society.

The episode end and end was court room drama with arguments in defense and against , verdicts and punishments .

A public hearing : the judge Wanting to save his face from public ridicule agrees to accept the punishment set for him. In agreement with Dhani Viplav wishes him to bite the dust and rub his nose to the ground as retribution. Asthana does the needful without a single ounce of remorse rather vows to take revenge and that he will .

Home court is in session with Dadi bua presiding. All find fault with Dhani's means to find education and the disgrace she bought to the family with her nightly rendezvous. Lucky she has a lawyer husband who takes up her case to defend her every action. Categorically stating that he is happy with her decision and Asthana got what he deserved. DT who has seen more of the world tries to explain that this is not the end of story that Dhani has started and the judge will come back with a response. Viplav stands firm with his argument that how come the conversation is about Dhani and not the judge and why the disparity between men and women who is called characterless just by her going out at night . The argument further heats up when DB and KT join to abuse Dhani when dadi intervenes. The gentle soul is distressed as to why everyone is against Dhani when truly she is a nice girl . Each in the room lower their eyes coz in their hearts they know why they continue to malign her. Best scene of the day for me. Viplavs arguments were spot on .

Session behind closed doors. Dhani has some explanation to do and she sheepishly offers one when Viplav stops her to remind her of their pact . He boosts her spirits stating that he is not angry at her for lying and fully supports her endeavors . and if a day comes when she has nothing her education will always be with her. A truly supportive husband though I wish he bought up the issue of her making these decisions without him and to include him in the future . Dhani is excused with "I love you Viplav" as her atonement.

Another drama takes place between Dadi bua and Kamini . And here I was a bit confused with the message and intent. In one scene Kamini tells dadi bua of how she manipulated Dhani and the judge and asks and gets blessings to continue further and in the next scene dadi bua is asking her to refrain from maligning the family name. What changed between the two scenes ? I guess the cvs are struggling to define her character and they should do it soon I like the DB actress though .

Another very good episode , action packed. The family continues to be agianst Dhani and viplav the only one standing up for her. DT is some ways was correct to tell Viplav that he needs to learn the ways of the world but I wish he had complimented him instead for taking such a bold stance. Well we know why he did not.

I hope you had fun at Wembley this Sunday and your home project near its end.

Take care and talk soon.
