**Happy Birthday to Our Pyaari Abhinetri - Sriti Jha!**

In this life though, born on 26^th February 1986 in the town of Beghusarai, Bihar, was a little girl who, oblivious to what destiny had in store for her, spent her life growing up in diverse cities like Kolkata, Kathmandu and Delhi. But fate had already charted her course and all roads were eventually meant to lead to Mumbai, The City of Dreams. And here dream and destiny finally met and what was just a distant wish for her actually came true and in turn gave us a spectacularly brilliant actress, one who can handle any kind of role with ease, who has given the term versatility a new meaning, who can reduce the most hardened of hearts into a bundle of emotions with her performances, who as much as she is fantastic onscreen is equally fascinating off it with her simplicity and humility. There is no doubt whatsoever that in this birth at least, an actress she was born to be.

Versatility is her name

From being the proverbial "girl next door" to a modern character full of spunk, ,Sriti has done it all.  In an already limited Telly world, she has tried her hand at many different roles, from a high school student to a young rural mother to a person with Multiple Personality Disorder etc. She tries to make sure that every role of hers turns out to be as authentic as it can be. For example, for her role as a blind girl in Rakt Sambandh, she visited a blind school in Worli, while to play Sudha, the girl with Multiple Personality Disorder she stayed up late nights to get Sudha's red eyes and sleepless look. Her expressive eyes and impressive voice modulation surely helps too. However, she refuses to take all the credit and credits her brilliant writers and directors for making her the actor she is. Despite her long career spanning almost 10 years and also capping it with an award for Best Actress in the recent Indian Telly Awards, she continues to consider herself incredibly blessed and her profession to be a God-given gift. Her humble and grounded nature along with her passion in acting has taken her far, and hopefully, will continue to take her far.

Sriti has the ability to make anyone smile with her warmth. As an individual she is very much her own person, who is very modest, humble and grounded. It is this very nature of hers that many fall for even more despite her hard work, dedication and the love that she has for acting which clearly shines through on screen. Lovingly called Titu, with close friends galore both within the industry as well as outside of it, she has the kindest words and praise for the people around her especially her costars and crew, with Shabir Ahluwalia being her favorite person on set. A simple girl-next-door and an ambivert, she is not a fan of the limelight and prefers to keep herself and her personal life away from any kind of attention. But despite that she makes it a point to stay in touch with her fans through social networking sites and is very welcoming and appreciative of fans' wishes and creations. The only message she stresses time and again is to keep learning, keep growing and continue to be inspired by all that life has to offer. For all of us she is an example of what a role model should be like without even trying.

If there was one word to describe Sriti, it would be Explorer. As an explorer of the world at large she has a huge passion for travel that too as a solitary traveler.  Whether it's the beaches of Pondicherry, the high altitude of Sikkim, the rain forests of Kerala, the fortresses of Rajasthan or the picturesque streets of Prague, all her photographs have interesting stories to tell by themselves.  She is also an explorer of the world of literature and cinema. A poetess and a bookworm she calls herself filmy thanks to her passionate love for cinema, especially classic movies of Charlie Chaplin, Guru Dutt and Satyajit Ray. She's an ardent admirer of Waheeda Rehman, who she considers a major inspiration, and has had a lifelong crush on Aamir Khan and Johnny Depp. As a literature fan, she can lose herself in books by Amitav Ghosh, Haruki Murakami while also indulging in favorite classics like The Catcher in the Rye, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Alice in Wonderland, To Kill A Mockingbird, and many others.

Through all her interests and passions, Sriti Jha continues to inspire us to read more, watch movies more, travel more, explore more, grow more and learn and absorb as much as we can from this great university called Life.

For a girl who thought of becoming a teacher and believed acting as a profession was just a pipe dream it has been quite a fantastic journey of almost a decade from school girl to professor with some fascinating characters and fabulous performances and awards along the way. Since Sriti started her career with the role of a student and is currently playing a character who is a Professor turned Rockstar's wife how about a different take on Sriti's characters in an academic setting?

So here's presenting a Yearbook of the Class of Sriti Jha...

A shy girl with a lovely voice, it's nice to see her coming out into the limelight through the Pink Band. Now if only she'd stop giving importance to signs and omens and other sundry superstitions and learn to have more faith and confidence in her dreams.

Most likely to : Have a great future as a playback singer or musician, that is only if her father doesn't end up getting his way and consign her to singing only on devotional albums.

A happy-go-lucky girl with a touch of romantic about her, she seems to genuinely care about people and is always quick to help anyone in need. But given the world that we live in she has to learn to be a better judge of character and be careful about being too nice and selfless.

Most likely to : If she doesn't follow her passion for dance, she is bound to do well in whatever she chooses given her righteous nature and grounded upbringing and values.

A very timid girl with self-esteem issues, but a top student with a very bright mind. If only she wouldn't keep to herself all the time and be more open.

Most likely to : Considering the fact that she loves stories and always seems to find refuge in her books, she seems more likely to write tales of her own some day.

Now this one is quite an interesting case. Quite the glam doll who has no regard for rules, she only wants to lounge at the back of the class, that is, if and when she feels like coming to class, but is mostly AWOL. *Funny though, that on the days she is there Sudha seems to be absent...

Most likely to : Open an all-night disco or night club with drinks on the house on Mondays.

A problem with members of royal families is that they feel they are above normal rules and laws. Such is the situation with Suhani as well, a princess with all the grace, beauty and carriage as befits her station, but who hides a pretty wild and rebellious streak behind that proud exterior. A close competitor for Prankster of the class, she's always finding ways to sneak away from school.

PS: Must refrain from citing "Boyfriend problems" as a valid excuse for absconding or emergency leave.

Most likely to : Start a martial arts and defense academy exclusively for girls, maybe even roping in said boyfriend as a guest tutor.

Independent, intuitive and ingeniously sharp, nobody would guess she is visually-impaired yet these are the qualities that sets her apart and truly makes her one of a kind. Anyone even thinking of exploiting her disability is seriously underestimating her.

Most likely to : Open a school for the blind and train many others to become as self-reliant and independent just like herself.

Sigh...where to begin with this one? The closest candidate for Class Clown and a prankster of the highest order, calling her street smart would be an understatement. Has zero tolerance for bullies and injustice of any kind, it's probably the reason why she is such a hit among the rest of the staff and students. Despite the complete disregard for discipline and conduct, she remains a huge favorite of the faculty, albeit secretly.

PS: Must stop calling the male teachers "Aey, Chikney!"

Most likely to: Given her kind of smarts and skills, she'd make a top class detective or private investigator.

Simple, kind-hearted and innocent, but most unfortunately a victim of domestic violence. An ideal wife who strived to make herself 'perfect' for her monstrous husband who never acknowledged her efforts and turned her into a pale shadow of her original self. If only she realizes that she doesn't have to fight this alone, that help is at hand if she were only to ask.

Most likely to: Once she has recovered enough and found her feet, she could write a book on the ordeal she went through, hoping to inspire other victims of domestic violence to fight back.

A survivor in every way, she is resilient, courageous with a tender way with little children. Her rising from the ashes like a phoenix despite all odds is definitely to be lauded but she must learn to depend on her instincts at most times and not be too trusting of appearances which can be deceptive.

Most likely to: Given her love and care for children, would make a fine governess or teacher but she would do well to fight for the cause of other battered women and provide a shelter for them.

A girl literally on the run from her past, when she first arrived all she had was a baby in tow and lots of fiery undaunted spirit. With unwavering determination and a childlike exuberance she has done the impossible, she has gotten herself an education and is soon on her way to secure a future for herself and her son (who seems to be the apple of the eye of literally everyone around)

Most likely to : Become a nurse as that's what she aspires to be, but could also make a fine champion for the rights of other similar child brides and oppressed women in her village.

The nerd of the class with a soft spot for studying and academics (yup, a rare breed, that), she is the responsible, loyal and dutiful sort coming from a family full of women, with a natural ability to win hearts with her unassuming behavior and simplicity. But there's one aspect that makes her the envy of everyone :  she's married to a famous rockstar!

PS: Must learn to be wary of any kind of drink offered to her, even a harmless orange juice. It's for her own good (though it does prove entertaining to the rest). 

Most likely to : Given her fondness for acquiring numerous degrees, has all the hallmarks of a Professor and, who knows, might even add a Nobel Prize to her name down the line (if she gets some time off from being a rockstar's missus, that is).

A literal surprise, this one, who walked in with some serious swagger and a bearing to take over the world. (And yes, that is quite an unusual name to put down in the records. But I guess that's quite natural among celebrities' families anyways these days). Breaking all known rules and concepts of a "demure woman", she is as feisty and spirited as can be. No-nonsense to a fault and razor sharp are her retorts so you better watch out if you are in the mood to argue, she doesn't take any crap from anyone and knows very well how to put you in your place.

Most likely to : become a CEO or run a record (the music one) empire or at the least manage fickle celebrities or diva rockstars.

So that was the Class of Sriti Jha, individual and unique beings in their own right (even if they are actually not) and quite a diverse bunch they seem to be, each one similar yet vastly different in many ways. This is of course thanks to those writers who conceived these characters, the directors who guided them and last but not the least to the lovely actress who brought each of them to life on screen. So here's to these wonderful people who gave us some outstanding characters and our own special favorites. Take a Bow!

I have been watching Kumkum Bhagya from almost the start, but I think the drunk Pragya episodes during Aaliya's mehendi was what got me hooked and has kept me hooked( even though I don't necessarily like the story right now 😆 ). Acting drunk can so easily become OTT, but you handle it perfectly! You nail every emotion down whether it be grief, pain, or anger. You and Shabir are both powerhouses of talent, and I can assure you that's one of the reasons many of us are still watching Kumkum Bhagya today!
