D or a R
Bosses tease their direct reports all the time, Corp India is somewhat like Corp anywhere these days
She knew that, but something made her dwell on the way he said "Mazaak kar raha tha" she replayed it over and over again in her mind
Didnt ask him if Nihar ate the pao bhaji at night, she didnt want to seem like Nihar's fairy Godmother or anything
She felt deeply for the child, going with his Dad everywhere, doing stuff, being dragged from place to place
And then going back home to catered or take out food each night
She noticed he played with with Aadhya, he was affectionate and kind, and easily amused
But still he was her boss's son
Over sympathy or over compassion could land her in trouble, and getting fired was not something she looked forward to
She had luckily come out professionally unscathed from the encounter at work in Mumbai
Emotionally there were unhealing scars, she never wanted to deal with something like that ever again
Which brought her back to the point of being involved with the boss
Aadhya and her ventured out in the evening when the famous Delhi sandstorm or aandhi appeared out of nowhere bringing temps down by a few notches
Kids were out, it smelled like moist earth, as they wandered inside the society first and then outside
She bought Aadhya ice cream
"U have a career in the food industry" he texted
That strange churning happened again
"Iska matlab I dont do a good job in building campaigns?" she asked
"Aap khaana ekdum badhiya bana lete ho" he reiterated
"I am very happy" she said
And then panicked and went back and corrected herself three minutes later
"Thanks for the compliment"
She didnt want him to think she was happy because she saw him
"Can I buy you lunch sometime?" he asked
She didnt respond to that, carried the heart pounding and flutter in her stomach for the next 4 or so hours
Along with the unanswered text
When Aadhya started to sleep at 10 ish, she went out to the balcony, the floor was cool under her thighs this evening
She sat cross legged by the rail, on the smooth marble floor
And looked at it again
"Lunch to main apne room mein khaati hoon" she said
"How about dinner?" he asked in a SECOND
She felt physically weak at that point, imagining he was waiting for her text, that late at night
"Mujhe UP ki kadhi? mast lagti hai, mere dabbe mein kadhi de dena" she said
"My wife would make the best karhi in the world" he said๐ณ
She stared at that statement, and her butterflies went away
There is nothing to fear, he still loves his wife
His lunch offer was merely a thankyou gesture
"Woh bhi UP ke thi?" she struggled with her Hindi
"Nupur Misra" he texted
"She made the best dahi vade, kathel ki subzi and karhi"
"So its not kadhi?" she asked
"No it isnt" he told her flat out
"D aur R mein kya antar hai?" she asked him logically
"Swaad ka" he said unflinchingly
"U dont want me to make karhi for you Suvechha" he said after she didnt respond, her smile at the swad comment turned into a self conscious moan when she saw him say her full name again
"Itna waaeta banate ho aap?" (bad)
"I dont cook much... didnt have to" he said
"Lunch mein kya dabba bharte ho?" she asked like a Mumbaiya
"School mein khaata hai"
"Karyalata khau kya?" (she cudnt stop before sending a Marathi line, do u also eat at work?)
"Hoye" he responded
"Aapki Marathi shuddha hai" she said
"Ek shabd mein jaan liya"
"eka shabda purese aahe" (one is enough)
"Nihar so gaya?" she asked
"Abhi... after I started texting"
"Aadhya usko pooch rahi thi" she declared
"He is quickly becoming her gaming idol isnt he?" he asked smiling
"Barobar" she said
"Is week vapas Mumbai jaana hai?" she asked to make conversation
"Nahi... karhi seekhne ki koshish karni hai mujhe" he spoke in perfect Hindi
She smiled fully... pleasured
