Bombay Velvet Budget Sixth Highest Ever - Collections 118th

Bombay Velvet is the sixth most expensive film on landing behind Dhoom 3, Bang Bang, Happy New Year, Kick and Ra.One.

So with this layout it has to record a top ten opening day, or at least top twenty but this 120 crore plus magnum opus ranks a disastrous 118th in terms of highest days. Ranbir Kapoor's lowest opener ever in terms of collections is Saawariya (2007) at 3 crore nett, that film was also a big flop but a 3 crore opening day against an SRK blockbuster like Om Shanti Om is good judging by what Bombay Velvet has done eight years later.

It is the worst opening for Ranbir Kapoor in real terms but for the director Anurag Kashyap it's par for the course. His top opening day figures as director prior to Bombay Velvet were 2.87 crore nett for Gangs Of Wasseypur (2012), 2.72 crore nett for Gangs Of Wasseypur 2 (2012), 1.34 crore nett for Dev D (2009) and 75 lakhs nett for Gulal (2009).

DB, budget-wise, if the film doesn't do well, can this be the biggest disaster in BW ever? Because the budget is way too high considering the opening. Maybe the weekend shows will get better.

This is sad indeed ..

Not sure if BV is really that bad but some of the regressive shitty movies have indeed crossed 100 crs & so it is disheartening to see a film of such a magnitude being reduced to an all time epic disaster... i haven't followed BV related articles much but from whatever little i read here n there pre-release , i got a vibe of huge skepticism attached to the movie , wonder why 🤔, even the cast seemed to be really really nervous about this film as in lack of confidence , its similar to how Salman's interviews reeked of lack of confidence before the release of Jai Ho .. what these stars need to understand is that you cant afford to be that nervous & skeptical right before the release of your films , it sends out wrong message , for heaven's sake you are 'actors' so try & 'act' confident during promotions at-least, doesn't mean unnecessary bragging which might lead to further embarrassment post release , just try & be a little more cleverer .. that's all..

@indicine: Last week's release 'Piku' has overtaken 'Bombay Velvet' at almost all centres today. Morning shows of 'Bombay Velvet' lower than Friday!
