At that particular moment when Mariam Makani fell ill and refused food afterwards, Jodha felt that the purpose of the war, the promise she made to Jalal would be defeated, should something drastic happen to Hamida Begum. That decision would have been a tough one to make. I sometimes wonder what if Hamida Begum had died due to the 'bhook hartal' had Jodha not said 'yes' to her stubborn demands.
