Of Togetherness and Optimism
'Time stands still best in moments that suspiciously look like ordinary life.'
Dylan, atypically, saves his damsel in distress amidst much drama and action. Despite the furor, one notices the worried, rather concerned look Dabbu wears as her hero wards off the enemies. He prevaricately manages to escape the goons and it is presumably Dabbu from where he gets his strength and reason to fight albeit he has already received a few hardy blows. The cops arrive at the nick of the second the events that ensue only reveal the humane as well as the magnanimous self of ' Dylan the Villain ' who cares much about a menial photographer. Dabbu only remembers about the footage, in spite of the antsy atmosphere that evinces her sheer optimism. The ruffians spot the vehicle and dart ahead aggressively as the duo take to their heels.
The scene shifts to the Thakur house where the members sit cuddled up lamenting over the danger looming large. They think positively and evade the thoughts of their beloved daughter stuck in any jeopardy, also showing the human proclivity to evade perils. Whilst Mamta breaks down in a rather melodramatic fashion, it is LN who calms the tense situation with soothing words.
Dylan and Dabbu share a warm, romantic moment as she grasps him tightly. The proximity does make the audience ' s stomach do a flip as the chemistry is believable and warming. He permits her to leave, but instaneously pulls her back, showing that this would last longer. Even as he puts his hand over her mouth, the audience is titillated by the thought that she isn't reacting crossly, unlike the previous time. The intensity is cut short as Dabbu talks about ' dandi ' issues and they resume their verbal spitting, bringing in the humour that domineers the ambience in the drama. A sense of security surrounds them, and with the two together, any problem is short-lived.
Back home, Mamta asks suspicious Aseem for help who accedes tentatively. His lurking presence adds much antagonism to the otherwise peaceful atmosphere. With cheerful Dabbu calling them up from Dylan's phone, the negativity is intercepted and LN assures them that she would be safe and with Dylan, though not liked by Dabbu . He emphasises on the fact that they were together and that was all that matters.
Dabbu and Dylan soon find a marooned warehouse to hide in. Dabbu finds a cute puppy and surprisingly makes the scared Dylan pet it who shows signs of trust in her . He is put off by the drab house but appreciates Dabbu who tries to find happiness in the minutest of things. That he finds a lamp and she a matchstick. She goes on tell that it would be a blessing if time were to come to a standstill . Dylan, the flirt that he is passes cynical comments that makes Dabbu realise the fervor of her words .
The family has a few light and ditzy moments with Mamta refusing to eat dinner. LN childishly comes over the trouble and the along with the sisters reinstate our belief in the adage " United we stand, divided we fall'
Dylan sneaks through the door and tries to figure out the magnitude of the riots as Dabbu constantly interrupts. He hushes her and she fails to convey that there was a lizard on his coat that needed help that only enrages him further.
With the episode ending one may appreciate the actors who do a fine job with the characters. We could only wish that Aamir loosens his facial muscles much as his free dialogue delivery . Supriya articulates an almost perfect prototype of an Indian mother and the entire cast does pretty well. The director keenly takes note of minute expressions and the editing team is good in keeping the scenes crisp ,though it may seem abrupt at certain times.
Overall, it was a balanced episode having all the necessary elements.
