What was the need for the system to turn their back on him.
They sent him to high profile criminal's jail for god's sake, with no excuse whatsoever

That's system's fault...same way then system let Salman roam scott-free without locking him inside the jail. It would be really naive to assume that Salman wasn't at fault in here. This criminal didnt hesitate a bit to put other's life on stake to protect himself. There's one thing to defend yourself and another to make people scapegoats. 🤢

Both Salman and Indian system are equally to be blamed. Witness protection is a big joke in here. Judiciary does favour the rich and influential. What a shame.

Anyway, if he has money for alcohol, then why not for food?

Maybe he was addicted to alcohol ,with his family turning back on him, no job and the stress of being asked to shut up with him being witness to a crime, maybe his mental sanity was affected, he may not have been able to cope with his disastrous circumstances.

If i'm getting money to keep my mouth shut, I wouldn't be stressed at all. Now if I wish to go against that person and tell the truth, I need to stick by that decision. Not use alcohol as some sort of easy route to avoid my problems. Glad that he chose to tell the truth, but whatever happened to him is caused solely by him in that case.

And while there are certain issues with protecting witnesses in this country, if he felt pressurized, there were many better options than this.

You want to support Salman, feel free to do so but don't give such illogical  explanations and please show some sympathy and respect to the deceased. TB doesn't happen because of alcohol consumption, it lies latent in most of the people who live in developing countries and flares up when a person is immunodeficienct. in this case patil died because of negligent conditions he was forced to live in, stress , lack of nutrition, lack of financial support, povery and no treatment. He was treated as a social pariah with no monetary support.

Instead if blasting someone on the lack of medical knowledge, how about take a step back and realize general public aren't aware of such medical details. Isn't that what most medical specialists taught in the first place to always expect public to not know the intricate details of medical conditions ? You may have a point but it could have been little less condescending.

If a man has earned money by his hard work (I am a bit hesitant to call acting "hard work"), then he isn't going to give it to every person in need. India alone is home to over 300 million people living below the poverty line. One man can't help them all. Whatever charity a man does is his wish, and Salman certainly engages in it quite a lot.

Glad that you have such strong mental constitution but I cannot speak for myself until I am in his shoes specially with such high profile involved,  he tried to do the right thing and did not change his statement till the end and died in the process, so I think he paid the price for being the sole witness. As someone said both salman and the system are to be blamed and you may chose to think otherwise, we will just have to agree to disagree.

I apologise if I came across as condescending, my emotions were running high.

It is a different matter that factors like stress, lack of nutrition, financial support and poverty have little to do with tuberculosis, making it an incorrect depiction of the medical condition.

It is a decision he had to make. If he knew that he would mess up his life if he chose to tell the truth, he should have just taken the money. Or used that money with which he bought alcohol to go see a psychologist.

And if you don't approach the judicial system at all, it isn"t even the system's fault.
