Khan's conviction isn't just a setback for him and his family and friends, but also for the entire film industry, which has been hugely dependent on the star to deliver the hits. The fate of Kabir Khan directed Bajrangi Bhaijaan (opposite Kareena Kapoor-Khan) and Sooraj Barjatya's Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (opposite Sonam Kapoor), both with coveted festival release slots of Eid and Diwali respectively, are now uncertain.

For fans of Bhai, it is hard to accept that their idol may have a fate similar to that of Sanjay Dutt. But for now they can head to Bandstand and do what they often do - stand across the road, wait for a glimpse of their star and cheer for him. He will be there until May 8 for now.

Thanks for the New BB thread Sara .

Regarding BB & PRDP getting affected coz of Salman's Verdict . I don't think so . BB will get completed in this month ..& As far as I know Salman had already completed his Scenes in PRDP as well . Also I don't think there should be any problem for him in getting bail in tomm(8thMay)'s hearing ..And once he gets bail ..He will continue his work & will finish his other projects as well .

What will happen to Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo now?

The verdict on the actor's hit and run case has put two release this year in the spot...
It has been established that nearly 200 crore is riding on Salman Khan in terms of his movies. But the biggest hit now will be his two upcoming releases this year, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. While the first is helmed by Kabir Khan and was supposed to release in July, the second one is directed by Sooraj Barjatya. These films are very crucial not only for Salman but for the industry as well since the investments on them are huge. Salman might have managed to get two days interim bail from the Bombay High Court for the 2002 hit and run case, but that's not going to change things for his films. What will become of these two releases of the year if Salman is sent to jail after the completion of these two days?

We spoke to Akshaye Rathi, Trade pundit, to know what becomes of these two films, and Rathi explains, "The Court has given its verdict and we have to respect that. I just hope like how Sanjay Dutt got a month to complete his films before he is put behind bars, Salman also gets the same. Both the films are almost 90% complete.". That would definitely be the ideal scenario but what if Salman is denied such leniency? Rathi shivers at the thought. "God forbid if he is denied that I can only imagine what would happen to these films. Especially for the producers and investors who have pinned their hopes on them," says Rathi.

If it does happen that the High Court too decides to favour the judgement of the Mumbai Session's Court, is there a possibility to tweak the films' stories and not let his absence affect them? Rathi says thoughtfully, "It's a very subjective thing to do. Depends completely on the producers. But given the fact that the climaxes of both the films have been canned, they might give that a try. But that's a long shot."

Well, it seems we will have to wait and see what becomes of Salman's two releases this year.

Since 2009, Khan has starred in some of Bollywood's biggest hits. His last seven blockbusters have made a total of Rs1,100 crore ($173 million) at the box office.

Stocks up
And after sliding on Wednesday, stocks of companies that are involved with Khan reacted immediately.
Shares of Eros International Media"which holds the distribution rights for Bajrangi Bhaijaan"jumped by 6%. The stock of Mandhana Industries, which has an exclusive contract with Khan's Being Human foundation to promote its products, rose almost 2%.
Being Human merchandise currently contributes around 10% of Mandhana's global sales. In the 2015 fiscal, Mandhana made Rs170 crore from Being Human merchandise, an increase of almost 30% from the previous year.

Keep calm.(Reuters/Manav Manglani)
Salman Khan isn't going anywhere"at least for the time being.
On May 8, the Bombay high court suspended the convicted Bollywood superstar's jail sentence, pending his appeal.
Khan's lawyers argued that the lower court had not considered all the evidence at hand during the trial.

Two days ago, the 49-year-old actor was sentenced by a lower court to a five-year-long jail term in a 2002 hit-and-run case, which left one homeless person dead and four others injured. He was charged for culpable homicide.
Within hours of his conviction, however, Harish Salve, one of India's best-known lawyers, had appeared in the Bombay high court on Khan's behalf to help him obtain an interim bail, which the court had granted. The court then fixed May 8 for hearing Khan's appeal against the earlier verdict.
At the hearing on Friday, the Bombay high court suspended the lower court's sentence, and asked Khan to furnish a new bond for Rs30,000. It also asked him to surrender his passport.
Khan's bail has now been extended, and the appeal hearing will begin in July.

Back on the floor
His conviction on May 6 had put in the limbo the future of at least five films Khan is currently a part of.
Two of these"Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo"are slated to be released in 2015, and the production and marketing of the two films together is estimated to be Rs200-250 crore, according to the Economic Times newspaper.
Even if jailed, Khan may have had the option to come out on parole and finished pending films"as actors in the past have. Actor Sanjay Dutt, currently imprisoned for illegal possession of arms in connection with the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, for instance, was out on either parole or furlough for more than 100 days between May 2013, the month he went to jail, and May 2014.
Khan, however, is here to stay"and so, it is likely to be business as usual at the box office.
During certain years, Khan's films alone have accounted for as much as 15% of the total revenue made on films in India, Shailendra Singh, joint managing director of entertainment and media company Percept, told the Wall Street Journal. And the actor has raked in some serious cash: In 2014, he topped the Forbes celebrity list in 2014, earning Rs244.5 crore ($38.4 million).
His next release, Kabir Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan, is due on July 17, with the trailer slated to be launched on May 22, according to trade analyst, Taran Adarsh.
"As Salman Khan is such a big star, the timing is going to be 100% in his favour. Whenever a court case is on, the wave always goes in favour of the star," film analyst Komal Nahta told Quartz.
In 2012, director Kabir Khan's Ek Tha Tiger, featuring Salman Khan, earned Rs198 crore at the box office in India, and was one of the highest-grossing films that year.
Karan Johar's Shuddhi, Anees Bazmee's No Entry Mein Entry and Ali Abbas Zafar's Sultan are also in the pipeline.

In the midst of the drama and suspense surrounding Salman Khan's hit and run case sessions court verdict where he was sentenced to 5 years in jail and thereafter bailed out and subsequently (today) getting relief from the Bombay High Court too, the news of the megastar's new movie Bajrangi Bhaijaan promo release date being revealed got lost.
Each time a Salman Khan film releases, the actor's look in the film sets a new trend that is ardently followed by his fans the world over. Well we have some good news for these fans, since the trailer of Salman Khan's upcoming film Bajrangi Bhaijaan will be released on May 22.

As for the trailer, we hear that Salman Khan himself took time out to sit at the editing table and compose the same, taking a call on what should and shouldn't go into it. While currently not much is known about Bajrangi Bhaijaan story, all queries will be answered with the release of the trailer.
Said to be one of the biggest releases this year, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, is directed by Kabir Khan, and which also features Kareena Kapoor and Nawazuddin Siddiqui apart from Salman Khan, is slated to release on July 17.
