 Families and their internal relationship was shown in those crime committed  lower strata of classes,.. where they do not care much.  A very little affection,.. whether a person lives or  dies,... due to the family hardships !

 My point is, in lower class strata of the society, though they say, I lost my husband or brother or son,  the intimacy of love between the family relationships sometimes is not that strong bond of love, the example is Patil's own had isolated him and now his wife is back to, that  2 min. fame, popularity and  grabbing some handsome chunk,.. sympatihisizing for Ravindra and such ! So, in lower strata they are rather just behind money, and many a times the relationship is mainly on   hatred level,.

 Otherwise, how you think those guys were sleeping on foot-paths, if were not hatred by their  father-wife or sons ???

Very true for some families. I was quite shocked when I saw the documentary and the little affection the family had for each other.

Add the fact that this justice came very late..
Had it happened when the accident took place, yes then it wld've make difference maybe
But now they are used to Salman walking free, they probably moved on.
And put him in jail may not satisfy them that much.
But money wld help them cuz they need it.

Anyways it's their decision what they want to do, and how they want things go
