The oldest of the four assignments is Sujoy Ghosh's adaptation of the Japanese thriller "The Devotion of Suspect X." The film co-stars Kangana Ranaut with Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Sameer Sharma's "Jugalbandi" is another film he is doing. This is a drama with a musical backdrop, reportedly being produced by Salman Khan under his banner Salman Khan Being Human Productions. The film will go on floors in October.
Sharma had earlier directed the drawling "Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana," but that Salman (Saif's co-star in "Biwi No.1" and "Hum Saath Saath Hain") is behind the movie, makes the project seem worthwhile. Also, the main problem with Sharma's film was the comatose pace, which is something abhorrent to the senior Khan.
But it is the other two films whose directors have dicey records. Vikramaditya Motwane's new film is touted as a crazy comic thriller with high-octane stunts, but his films "Udaan" and "Lootera" were both more about critical acclaim than box-office figures or audience appeal.
Saif's fourth project is with Vishal Bhardwaj, their second film together after "Omkara." This is a director whose every film (almost) is hyped as a hit when facts and figures speak the exact reverse.
