Rituraj Singh: Earlier, makers wanted actors. Now, they just want good-looking faces
Richa Shukla,TNN | Jun 5, 2015, 12.00 AM ISTRituraj Singh recently joined the cast of 'Diya Aur Baati Hum' as Coach Mahendra Singh, whose entry has given a major twist to the show. The Jaipur actor has been an avid sportsman throughout his school and college days, and told us, "I love playing tennis and football. So, playing a coach in the show was not difficult. Every game requires some sort of discipline, and my passion for sports helped me a lot in portraying the character."
The actor also spent 12 years doing theatre with Barry John in Delhi. Recalling his journey, the he said, "I was only 12 years old when I joined theatre. 'Tol Mol Ke Bol' was my first show. Those were the days when makers wanted actors, whereas now they want good-looking faces and nothing else. Even if you don't know the basics of acting, but have good looks, they can make you an actor. This is weird." Before venturing into television, he also did an English film called Miss Beatty's Children, which won the Best First Film of a Director award at the 40th National Film Awards.
