Both Neil and Ragini have been shown to be resigned to fate, in that they feel they can never belong to each other and they both have to move on. 

Neil's reaction to Ragini's saree burning was totally spontaneous, but after that initial reaction he realized that he had no right when he saw the gesture from Ragini that it was ok. Neil is in a depressed state and so decided not to pursue the matter further.

Agreed but in light of the fact that this sequence had been so much hyped, it was quite a dampner. Had they not spread all those rumours about Nachiket or Ragini burning his/her hand and Nachiket and Aman having a verbal showdown, this would indeed have been a moot point.
