How did they fall in love?
Debina lived in a flat with her friend, and Gurmeet's friend was the boyfriend of Debina's friend. Gurmeet always tagged along with his friend whenever he visited his girlfriend's flat, and through this way, Debina and Gurmeet got better acquainted with each other. Once, there was a long stretch of time in which they did not get to see each other, and after realizing how much they missed each other's company, they realized they were in love.
Shortly after that, Gurmeet & Debina entered into a relationship and were offered roles in the tamil fantasy series "Mayavi" in 2006. Gurmeet played the male antagonist while Debina was the female lead. Becoming co-stars for the first time together cemented their bond and made them realize how much they loved spending time together. Debina & Gurmeet's major break came when they auditioned for Sagar Arts' Ramayan in 2008 and bagged the roles of Ram and Sita! This version of Ramayan became highly successful all over India and also internationally, becoming dubbed into Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam upon popular demand. Ramayan was particularly popular in South India and got spectacular ratings, becoming one of the most watched shows of 2008 and 2009. Playing a divine couple onscreen made Gurmeet & Debina's love stronger and purer and they decided to become official about their relationship.
Shortly after Ramayan, Gurmeet & Debina participated in the reality show Pati Patni aur Woh to break out of their image as Ram and Sita, and get known by their own names. Afterwards, they both did individual shows for a while, including Geet Hui Sabse Paraayi, Chidiya Ghar & Punar Vivah. In 2012, Gurmeet participated in Jhalak Dhikla Jaa Season 5 and won 1st place. In 2013, they participated in Nach Baliye: Shriman Vs Shrimati and also the 6th season of Nach Baliye (2013-2014) in which they won 2nd place. After Nach Baliye, Debina and Gurmeet also did Khatron Ke Khiladi - Season 5 and made it to the finale.
