Mere Humdum Mere Dost Urdu1 Full Drama Review

When the first promo of Mere Humdum Mere Dost aired on Urdu1, there was constant chatter about what an MD Productions serial was doing on a rival channel. I wouldnt say that its fast paced, and I wasn't very impressed with the editing  Especially in the first half the editing was awful, everything was all over the place.
Thanks for the review! :)

When the first promo of Mere Humdum Mere Dost aired on Urdu1, there was constant chatter about what an MD Productions serial was doing on a rival channel. As per reliable sources, the serial was ordered by Urdu1 and is the beginning of a new era for the production house that has, like always, put in its heart and soul into this one. But, is there more to this than good production values? Let's find out.

MHMD consists of several characters and you cannot call this the story of one. The channel promoted it as Aiman (Sanam Jhang's) story, but the truth is that it isn't really. I'd say it is more of Sajeela and Haider's (Hareem and Adnan) story. This is about a woman, Sajeela, who falls into love but has to face parental opposition resulting in her marrying Haider. However, she is still in love with her ex and cheats on her husband running away with her true love who turns out to be a cheater. This results in Sajeela coming back to Haider, who is now in love with a much younger Aiman (Sanam Jhang) who is his best friend's daughter.

The story (Farhat Ishtiaq) is based on her novel and is actually novel on paper even. Seldom have we seen cheating wives on Pakistani television which is why this one is different. But more than the story what takes the cake here is the screenplay and the face of the serial. You'll be hooked on to this one because there's one twist in the tail after another, albeit predictable at times, you are still glued because things are happening very fast.

Plus, the characterization is excellent. I would say this one is far above Farhat Ishtiaq's other work as she pens down some really well knitted characters that are put in a beautiful world. The director, Shahzad Kashmiri, also deserves brownie points for presenting a simple story in a simple way. He doesn't try to be different and let actors do their things and what we see onscreen is pure magic. I should also mention the beautiful romance the writer has incorporated in the serial. The simple dialogues will grasp your attention and whenever Aiman years for her love, your heart breaks.

The serial spent quite some time on the editing table and is very crisp. The watertight screenplay in addition to no extra tracks really help. The OST is melodious and goes well with the theme of the play. The locales, Turkey and Pak, are beautifully captured, but still could've been better. The overall production values are excellent.

As for acting, you cannot pinpoint the best but Adnan Siddiqui is well cast in a role that seems to be tailor made for him. Sanam Jhang shows maturity but still is raw especially in emotional scenes. Harem Farooq has an excellent screen presence and without a doubt will be in the top league soon. Junaid Khan is typecast and doesn't do much. Farhan Ali Agha is great in a role that perfectly suits him. ZQ is okay and Shamim Hilali is perfect like always.

Overall, MHMD is pure entertainment. It has everything from emotional values to great moments to beautiful characters to a fresh cast. There's no reason why you shouldn't watch this one. It's not out of the box, but it will keep you
