Everyone has a love story. Some real, some imagined and some unrequited - everyone has one. But it is only a rare few who have one that like all good stories should, shock, surprise and challenge the way one views the world. Theirs is one such story. Theirs is one such love.
To say they are opposites would be like saying the sky is blue. Demeaning, redundant and inaccurate. They're just different people, like all people are. Unique in their own ways and yet similar in their primal needs, those needs that are often taken for granted. Basic human needs that people view as natural, as a given. Safety, acceptance, love and understanding. Cliches that are often accompanied by cringes. Needs that stay craving and clawing at the back of one's head, that are silently satiated and almost never questions in the day-to-day struggle to just continue living.
They fulfill and complete those needs of theirs. Needs they never acknowledged they felt, much less expected the other to fulfill. But that was the irony wasn't it? The catch? They are nothing alike, they want none of the same things and yet they find that when they come together they become better, more than they have ever been. While she turns from a blank page to a colourful portrait so full and vibrant and ringing with emotions, he goes calm and serene, and the roar and thunder within quietens to a comfortable thrum. She comes alive when she is with him and with her, he finds peace.
Theirs is a love of balances and extremes. Like all the best stories are. Like life ought to be.
