But I too wonder - once Krishna & the yadavas left Mathura for Dwarka, did Nand & Yashoda also leave w/ them? Or did they remain in Vrindavan? Also, under which kingdom did Mathura, Gokul, Vrindavan etc fall under after the departure of Krishna? Panchala? Indraprastha? Chedi? Any other? How was it available for Vajra to go to after Arjun brought them all back from Dwarka?

Yeah, it might have been a part of an area that owed allegance to Jarasandha once the Yadavas had left, but there were several kingdoms b/w Magadha & Mathura - Kashi, Ayodhya, Pratisthana, Karusa, Chedi, Panchala, Hastinapur.
It wouldn't have returned to Pandava hands until after the Kurukshetra war.
