Sanjay Leela Bhansali finally found the Bajirao he had been on a relentless quest for years! Yes, the deal is finally been sealed and it is the Devdas duo Sanjay-SRK who have decided to take their friendship to a different level with Shah Rukh Khan giving a nod to Sanjay's Bajirao Mastani, a film that was in the pipeline for times immemorial.
Based on the lives of Peshwa Bajirao and his beloved Mastani, Sanjay had started conceptualizing the story keeping in mind his reel life Jodi Salman-Aishwarya in mind. But obviously, as the case turned out to be, the ex-lovers had a rather ugly public break up following which the pairing had become more than just impossible. Sanjay, had later approached a lot of other actors for the same, including Ajay Devgn who had to politely turn it down.

Sanjay, who got busy filming and planning his ambitious Goliyon ki Raas Leela Ramleela was still in search of his Bajirao when one fine day Shah Rukh visited the sets of Ramleela and expressed his interest in playing Bajirao and sparks flew henceforth.
Now that Shah Rukh has also consented to the film, Sanjay does not want to waste any further time delaying an already delayed project and has decided to start the film in July/August this year, mainly because the maverick director wants the rains to be the perfect background for his frames.
Bajirao Mastani, Sanjay's dream project would be made on a lavish budget and might just go on to be Bollywood's most expensive film till date. Shah Rukh's Red Chillies Entertainment will collaborate on co-producing the film. As of now, the casting for the lead is half done as the search for the heroi
