In the third episode, Varad very clearly states that he does not want to impress anybody, (See the video at 9:00)
but today he said that his father had given him a task for the first time, and he was determined to finish the work...
Now by doing this work, is he not trying to please his father, is he not trying to prove him, that he has the capabilities to finish the work which is assigned to him and get some good words from his father.
So what we all thought that, Varad is least interested in his father and that he is aware of his father's double-face actually also pines for his love and approval. He also wants his attention. He is also a worshipper of his father just like Shlok.
