Today's episode begins with Dhritrashta remembering his conversation with Bhisma, about sending the princes away to study with Drona. Suddenly Duryodhana arrives, he is upset on hearing he must leave Hastinapur. Dhritrashta speaks harshly with him, telling him that he must behave and follow tradition. Duryodhan claims he did nothing wrong and is only trying to fulfil Dhritrashtra's wishes of becoming his heir.
Dhrit gets angry, saying I never told you to poision Bhima. Duryodhana says the Pandavas are his enemies. Dhritrashta becomes surprised and worried saying that he never said Pandu's sons were Duryodhan's enemies.
Duryodhana said that you told me ambition is the meaning of life, that dreams are the treasures of life, and that whomever gets in the way of us achieving our dreams should be gotten rid of.
Dhritrashta listens but still tells Duryodhana to leave for Dronacharya's ashram. Dhrit looks emotional and tells Duryodhana to put all his strength into being the best. Duryodhan tries to speak but Dhrit shouts at him to leave. Once he leaves, Dhrit begins to cry.
Next we're carried over to see Krishna! He's filling pots with water and tells us that every single child in the world arrives with a clear mind, no good or bad characteristics. Krishna asks how do people obtain good or bad traits? He says that the things children hear repeatedly from their parents are what shapes their minds.
He adds that children's characteristics stem from their parents desires, but still on finding out that their children have bad habits,parents become surprised and upset. Parents then wonder where their children picked up these bad habits.
Krishna says that parents unknowingly sow the seed of these bad characteristics in their children. Therefore it is important for parents to keep their own desires in check, before passing them onto their children.
Back to Hastinapur, everyone is gathered in the sabha. Awesome Narayanam shlok playing in the background! Its actually the very first verse of the Mahabharat!
A yagya is being conducted, with Dhrit, Bhishma, etc int the sabha.
Bhishma tells the sabha that the Kuru princes are embarking on an important period of their life. He says the future will depend on what they learn, therefore they are about to become bramacharyas and go to Drona's ashram. The princes arrive and people are cheering them (Dussala looks TOO HAPPY about getting rid of them!) 😆 And Duryodhan-Yudhishtira, Bhima-Dussasan are giving each other a stare down 😳 Then everyone joins in and you see 5 brothers on one side and 100 (more like 25) on the other side!
Anyway, the princes are presented with the sacred thread by brahmans. Bhishma tells Yudhishtira and Duryodhana to ask for blessings and permission to leave from the King,on behalf of their brothers. (Good idea, since by the 105th kid your voice would probably disappear!)
Then Bhishma tells the other princes to take blessings from their mothers (he said this as though they have 100 mothers as well) 😕
Yudhi and Duryo (apologies- my fingers are tired!) ask Dhrit for his blessings. His bias shows in the way he blesses both the princes.
Bhishma also blesses Y and D (seriously my fingers have given up!) and tells Dhrit to be happy that the children are leaving and will return as young adults.Dhrit says he is waiting for that day.
Gandhari is surrounded by a mob *cough*, a crowd of her children. Kunti is also with her other 4 sons. She is giving them yoghurt and sugar to ensure that their journey will be auspicious,but Bhima tells her to give it to the others first. She's about to give a spoonful to Nakul,but Bhima shouts not so much! 😆 He says they're only small, they shouldn't be eating too much. She gives a spoonful each to Nakul,Sahdev and Arjun, and then Bhima takes the pot from her and downs the lot! 🤣
Kunti tells Bhima and Arjun to look after Nakul and Sahdev. They take her blessing and leave.
Arjun turns back to Kunti and says that Pandu used to say that whatever you do,make sure you do it properly. Arjun says he will definitely follow his advice,and also always protect his brothers.
Kunti says she has full faith in him (she calls him Paarth meaning son of Pritha, Kunti's name before she was given to Kuntibhoj)
Bhishma chants a mantra and all the adults bless the princes before they leave.
The princes arrive outside the ashram and gather together (I counted, there are 26 Kaurvas pretending to be 100!) 😆 Duryodhan spots a tent and tells Dussasan that Shakuni must have made preparations for their rest. They both enter the tent to find someone sleeping there. Duryodhan grabs a sword.
Precap: Drona tells the princes that there is a bird hidden in the tree, with it's eye as the target. The princes must pierce the bird's eye without letting it fall to the ground. Arjun gets ready to shoot.
