CHAPTER 54 (C). THE NIGHT ENDS WITH TRAGEDY
Place - Shantivan
As the mahurat of engagement came closer the family started gathering around. Naaniji was talking to some guests when she felt someone tapping her shoulder. She turned around to see her daughter in law, Manorama standing with a worried expression on her face. Naani frowned, "Manorama! Ka hua? Bahut paresaani ma laagat ho?" Manorama also known as Maamiji came closer and whispered, "Uu dekho! Dekhat ho uu ladki ko jo uuvaan khadi hai?" Naani looked to where Maami was pointing and noticed a girl dressed in red and white saree standing at a distance with her back towards them. Maami continued, "Uu ladki ek dum humaar Geet jaisan laagat hai!" Naani frowned, "Kaun? Uu Laal safed saadi waali?" Maamiji nodded while the girl turned facing them. Naani continued, "Humka bhi yahi laagat hai ki uu humaar Geet bitiya hai!" Maami and Naani looked at each other and then back to Geet. Suddenly, the girl was joined by none other than Khushi. Naani spoke, "Laagat hai humko sachchaai ka pata lagaana hi hoga! Chalo, chalkar uu ladki se baat karte hain!" Naani determinedly marched towards the Geet and Khushi who were standing on the other side of the room isolated from other people giggling amongst each other.
Khushi and Geet giggled excitedly as they talked about the upcoming engagement. In between their chats, their eyes darted towards their love interests, Arnav and Maan respectively. Of course, Arnav and Maan's eyes were practically glued to their lady loves' faces. Luckily, no one noticed this interaction.
Suddenly, the light switched off. A small murmuring started around as people looked around in confusion. Arnav frowned. This was not supposed to happen. He had invertors ready for power cut and hence the lights should have remained on even after the power cut. Maan felt a bit uneasy and grabbed Arnav's shoulder who was standing beside him. Why did he feel that something was about to happen?
Soon, the light came up and the guests and hosts sighed in relief. Arnav looked at the place Khushi was standing only to find her missing. He looked around for her but she was nowhere to be seen. Someone grabbed his arm and he turned only to see Maan's worried face. "Soni kahin dikhaayi nahi de rahi!", Maan mumbled as he looked around still tracing for his Soni. Arnav's eyes widened in shock. "Khushi bhi kahin dikhaayi nahi de rahi!", Arnav spoke and Maan's head whipped around to look at him in shock. Now his sister and love were missing. Maan swallowed and whispered the thoughts which lurked in both of their head aloud, "Kahin kuch ho…." Before he could say anymore, he was cut off by a girl's voice screaming his name. Anrav looked at him in horror as Maan whispered, "Yeh Soni ki aawaaz hai!" They both ran towards the main gate. As soon as Dev, Aakash, Arjun and Shyam noticed them running, they followed them. Noticing the commotion the guests walked towards the outdoor with Naani, Daadi, Maami, Maama, Anjali, NT and Annie along with them. The remaining Gupta family followed the Raizadas and Khuranas.
Geet and Khushi were shocked when after the light out someone covered their mouths and covered their head with black cloths. Before they could react they were picked up and dragged outside. They were taken outside where their hands were tied and the black cloths from their faces were taken off. Khushi and Geet came face to face with a man in front of them with few men holding both of their hands. The man roared at his men, "Iske saath yeh aur kise utha laaye ho?" One on the men piped up, "Saath saath khade the toh…." The man glared at his men angrily. "Brij Veerji?", Geet whispered and Khushi looked at Geet in shock. The man smirked, "Toh tune mujhe pehchaan liya!" He grabbed Geet's hair from behind. Geet felt her head jerk up and she cried in pain, "Kabse tujhe dhoond raha hoon aur tu hai ki chupke baithe hai apne bill mein!" Geet hissed in pain and Khushi shouted, "Chodiye inhein! Yeh humaari bhabhi hain!" Brij looked at her in amusement, "Bhabhi! Bhabhi!" He looked at Geet, "Toh tune shaadi bhi karli! Arre waah! Badi tez nikli tu! Kahaa hai tera dulha? Kahaa hai mera Jijja?" He let out a laugh and dragged Geet by her hair into the backside of the van parked beside them. Khushi surged forward and one of the men shouted, "Iss kudi da ki karein?" The man, Brij roared, "Iss kudi nu chad denge toh yeh madat ke liye log ikhatta karegi. Ise bhi saath le chalo." The remaining men dragged Khushi towards Geet who was in the van. Geet noticed that Brij's attention was on Khushi. Abhi sahi samay hai! Till now she was in shock seeing the man from her flashback vision in front of him. But now that she had collected her wits, she decided to take action. She took a deep breath and let out a loud shout, "MAAAN!" Brij looked at her in anger but she continued shouting Maan's name. This prompted Khushi to struggle against her captors. Brij pulled Geet's hair and dragged her face closer to his making her get down from the van, "Apna mooh band kar!" He removed his hand from her hair and slapped her. Geet fell on the ground. He grabbed her hand and pulled her up to throw her into the van and the men continued to drag Khushi to the van.
Arnav and Maan were shocked when they came out of the house only to see the dead bodies of security guards lying on the lawn. Their heart filled with horror and they ran out of the main gate only to see few men trying to put Khushi and Geet into the van. They ran forward and pulled the men holding Khushi and proceeded to smash them with their bare fists. Arjun and Shyam joined them by smashing the other goons around them. Khushi stood in shock as the men fought around her. Dev and Aakash tried to reach Geet but before they could, few more men joined to fight against them. Brij dropped Geet's hand as he joined his men in fighting. Geet stood up from where she was sitting and ran upto Khushi. The guests, Guptas, Khuranas and Raizadas all stood shell shocked at the fighting happening in front of them. Soon, the guests ran to their parking lot leaving the families to fend against the kidnappers.
Anjali suddenly grasped Naaniji's hand and pointed towards Geet. She whispered, "Woh ladki toh ek dum humaari Geet ki tarah dikhti haina!" Naaniji nodded her head. Both the ladies at each other confused while the fight continued around them. As the fight was going on right in middle with Geet and Khushi on one side and the families on the other side neither side could reach out to each other without getting hurt by the fighting.
The six men fought as much as they could but the men with Brij were strong too. Arnav ducked a fist coming to hit him and sent a kick to the man in front of him. Before he could take a breather he felt another man come towards him from behind. He turned around and hit the man on the face and gave him a good kick. A man was about to punch Maan but Maan grabbed his hand and turned him around, trapping him between his biceps and his body. He squeezed the man's throat with his biceps but the man slammed his elbow into Maan's abdomen. Maan let go off him in pain and the man turned around. He tried to hit Maan again but Maan ducked and hit the man on his stomach. As his opponent fell, he turned to fight another man.
Lavanya felt like biting her nails. The scene in front of her seemed like out of some big movie. She looked around her where everyone seemed stupefied. She shook her head, No! She had to do something. She had to take action. She opened her purse and pulled out her phone. She dialed a number and spoke, "Hello! Police Station!"
Dev smashed the man in front of him when his wife shouted, "Dev aapke peeche!" He looked at his wife and waved his hand with a smile. Suddenly, someone caught him from behind by trapping him in between their body and biceps. His wife slapped her forehead. He clawed at his throat but the man refused to leave him. Suddenly, an idea struck him and he put his hands behind and tickled the man. The man laughed and let him go. He turned around and provided the man a good old mukka!
Arjun was shocked at manner which these men fought. He felt as if he was in some big akhaadha. Knowing his luck, these men might have been from some Akhaadha! Suddenly, he saw two men coming from opposite side towards him. Akhaadha men didn't have brains right! He smirked and ducked. The men hit each other and fell down. He lifted his collar in pride.
Suddenly, Maan noticed a man lurk behind Geet with a rod raised in his hand. His eyes widened in horror and he shouted, "GEEET!" Maami, Naani and Anjali looked at each other in shock. Aakash turned around to look at Maan in shock. He turned towards where Maan was staring and his eyes widened in shock. Geetto! Humaari Baby! Geet and Khushi turned around only to see a man with a rod in his hand about to hit Geet. Khushi caught the man's hand with her right hand while Geet caught the rod in her right hand. Both the girls raised their left hand and pushed him with all their might. The man stumbled and let go of the rod in surprise as he had not expected such response from such delicate girls. Both girls looked at the man with disgust. Geet looked at him in anger as she hit the man with the rod on his head. The man fainted and both the girls looked at his face to make sure he was not conscious. Maami smiled with tears in her eyes, "Very good! My Geetto!" Naaniji smiled, "Shaabbaash Geet Bitiya!" Anjali just mumbled, "Meri Baby!" Aakash smiled as he noticed his sister's antics and turned back towards the fight knowing that for now his sister was safe. Geet looked at the man as recognition lit her face. "Yeh toh wahi insaan hai jisne mujhpar park mein assault kiya tha!" Khushi looked at Geet in horror. Geet continued, "Yeh wahi log hai jo mujhe itne din se maarne ki koshish kar rahe hai!" Khushi spoke, "Kahin yeh wahi log toh nahi jisse Jiji ne aapko bachaaya tha?" Geet nodded, "Shaayad! Yahi log hain jiski wajah se maine apna yaaddaasht khoya hai!" Khushi gripped Geet in a side hug as they turned to look at the fight happening around them with a renewed horror.
Shyam kicked a man in stomach and punched his face. Before the man fell on the ground, Shyam had already turned to kick and punch the next guy. While fighting, he gave his a wife a glance hoping against hope that this was not the time the baby decided to come out.
Aakash ducked once to evade a punch. Then he ducked once again to evade another punch. Generally, Aakash was not a fighter. He was a non violent person who preferred to either watch fights in the sidelines or try to mediate between the two sides. He ducked once again but pulled a punch of his own. He nearly sighed in relief when the man went down. He was not at all made for fighting that's for sure. Suddenly his eyes widened. Right in front of him, two men came to hit him. He was about to duck, his favorite strategy while fighting, when from the crowd came the unmistakable voice of Paayal, "Aakash sambhaalke!" He turned around in shock and unfortunately the men took that chance to hit him. He fell down and felt anger course through his body, "Dammit!", he growled, his growl reminiscent of his elder brother. He got up and started hitting the two men with all his might. Now, he realized, is the right time to use all the training Maan Bro and Arnav Bhai had given him when he was in college. Chalo Aakash Beta, Kuch serious fighting ho jaaye! Par uske pehle…… He turned around and glared at Paayal for interrupting. Paayal winced and Aakash roared, "Phirse mat tokna!" Paayal grabbed her ears and mouthed sorry. He turned back and got right into the fight.
Arnav grabbed the man's hand in front of him and twisted it against his body. He had a satisfying crack and he grinned with menace. This is what you get to touch my Khushi. He turned around to hit another man when suddenly he felt a searing pain in his abdomen. He looked down and was shocked to see a knife wedged into his stomach. All the blood drained from his face as he turned around in shock. His eyes blurred and his knees gave away. The last vision in front of him before he went unconscious was his Naani holding her chest and his Di holding her stomach while rest of Guptas, Raizadas and Khuranas looking at him in horror.
Khushi was happily cheering as her Maan Veere smashed another man's face when her eyes reached Arnav. She smiled widely as Arnav twisted a man's arm against his body. While Khushi wasn't a big fan of violence but at this moment she felt satisfaction at seeing the men with same helplessness that she had felt when they had grabbed her inside. Maariye Arnavji! Khoob maariye! Humaari Parjaayiji ko maarne ki baat kar rahe the na yeh! Ab toh aap inhein achchi se peetiye! But before she could celebrate anymore, a man came right behind her Arnavji with knife in her hand. Her eyes widened and she let out a loud scream, "ARNAVJIII!" But due to the fight going on and her being so far away from Arnav, Arnav could not hear her scream and turned around only when the man was real close to him. She watched in muted shock as Arnav got stabbed into his stomach. She felt tears well up in her eyes as she gripped Geet's hand in horror. She lunged forward to go to her Arnavji when her hand was grabbed by Geet. She turned to look at Geet with pain in her eyes but Geet shook her head, "Beech mein ladaai chal rahi hai Khushi. Tumhein chot lag sakti hai." Khushi shook her head. No! She had to go to her Arnavji! She turned to run when Geet grabbed her from waist and pulled her behind.She struggled against Geet but her struggle was in vain. As the fight went away from her body, she turned and placed her head on Geet's shoulder and let out a scream. She could not even go to her Arnavji because there were fights going on between where she was standing and where Arnav had fallen down. She felt helpless and this feeling was not good. She prayed to her Devi Maiyya, Hey Devi Maiyya! Humaare Arnavji ko bacha lena! Hum aapse aur kuch nahi maangenge! Please!
Naaniji, Maamiji and Anjali were worrying and cheering alternatively; worrying for the men's life and cheering for their every win. Anjali cheered as her husband hit another man and turned towards where her brothers were fighting. Her smiling face turned into shock when a man with knife came behind her Chote. Before she could scream, the man stabbed her Chote. Her hand on Naaniji's arm clenched tightly and Naaniji, who was cheering Aakash, turn to look at her. She glanced Anjali's pale face and turned her eyes to where Anjali was staring. Her eyes widened in horror at the knife protruding from her Chote's stomach and she started hyperventilating. Suddenly, she felt pain in her chest and she grabbed her chest as she recongnized that this was the beginning of a heart attack.
NT and Daadima were holding each others' hand in silent support to each other while Annie was cheering her brothers and her husband. Suddenly, their eyes widened in shock as Arnav was struck in the stomach with a knife. Before they could comprehend what was happening, Naaniji who was standing in front of them started to collapse and Daadima grabbed her friend. But she could not handle her friend's weight and started to collapse. Maamiji and Buaji grabbed Naaniji as Daadima sat on the floor under the weight. Both Maamiji and Buaji let Naaniji down gently while Dadima placed her friend's head in her lap. All three realized that Naaniji had a heart attack as soon as they noticed her grabbing her chest. Buaji mumbled, "Inko toh heart attack hua hai. Jald se jald inhein aspataal leke jaana hoga." Suddenly, she heard Lavanya stammer, "Mmm…main hospital ko ko call lagaa rahi hoon!" and Buaji let out a sigh of relief.
Annie was eagerly cheering for her husband and her brothers while standing beside Paayal and behind Anjali. Suddenly, she felt a pain ripple through her heart as Arnav was stabbed. Oh God! Not my Arnav Bhai! Please not Arnav Bhai! Before she could react to it, Naaniji standing in front of her Daadima collapsed. She saw her Daadima grab her friend but unable to bear her friend's weight. She lunged forward to help her but before she could do anything Anjali charged towards her brother. Paayal, NT and Annie grabbed Anjali as Anjali struggled to go to her brother. NT screamed, "Anjali, aap shaant ho jaayiye! Aap wahaan jaa nahi sakte!" Annie too pleaded, "Please Anjali Di! Please relax! Or else you will harm your baby, sis! Please calm down!" Suddenly, Anjali stopped moving. Before Paayal, NT or Annie could heave a sigh of relief, Anjali grabbed her stomach and started to collapse. All Paayal and Annie could do was watch in horror as Anjali collapsed while NT collapsed with her. As Anjali grabbed her stomach and screamed in pain, all three realized that Anjali was going into labour. NT grabbed Anjali's head and pulled her into her lap as Paayal and Annie buckled down and grabbed Anjali's hands. They heard Buaji mumble that Naaniji had a heart attack. Before they could react, they heard Lavanya's reply. They let out a sigh of relief at the news of coming ambulance and started to comfort Anjali with their words while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.
Lavanya watched in shock as Arnav was stabbed. She looked around as everyone reacted emotionally. No one was thinking rationally, she realized. But she could not blame them. If she was also close to the Raizadas, she would have reacted the same way. Luckily, she was not close to the Raizada family and hence, she could react practically. She pulled out her mobile and called a number. Suddenly, she heard Buaji pipe up about heart attack and she replied that she was calling the hospital. She spoke in her phone informing the hospital receptionist about the situation at Shantivan with only a slight tremor in her voice betraying her fear.
While the number of kidnappers left standing dwindled down, Aakash went to his brother trying to wake him up. Maamaji followed Aakash to the family's most beloved child. Shyam ran towards his Rani Sahiba trying to comfort her while rest three continued fighting. By now only four or five kidnappers were left standing.
Geet hugged Khushi as Khushi rendered heart wrenching sobs. Suddenly, Geet's hand was grasped and she was turned around. Khushi felt herself lurch as Geet was torn away from her embrace. She still was in shock over what had happened with Arnav. Geet was horrified to see Brij holding her hand. It seemed that he had sneaked out of the fights when no one noticed. He glared at her with hatred in his eyes. "Oye kudiye! Bas hogaya tera naatak! Sidhi sidhi chal mere naal warna main tera woh hasher karoonga ki tu kisiko mooh dikhaane ke laayak na rahegi!" He grabbed her by her throat and dragged her to the van. Geet grappled with the hand choking her throat but her strength was nothing in front of Brij. Khushi was snapped out of her shock when Geet made chocking noise. She grabbed Brij and pushed him. Brij having not expected this attack stumbled while loosing his grip on Geet. Geet stumbled back as she took deep breaths. Khushi glared at the man, "Khabardaar joh humaari Bhabhi ke paas aaye aap!" Brij let out a sarcastic laugh, "Kaun rokkega mennu! Tu rokkegi! Haan? Tu rokkegi?" He surged forward and slapped Khushi. Khushi felt down due to the force of the slap. Geet looked at Khushi in horror and the horror turned into anger as she looked at Brij. She moved forward and starting slapping Brij with all her might. Brij was taken by surprise and took few slaps before he recovered and grabbed Geet by her shoulders. He pulled her close and then pushed her down in anger. She fell down and felt a dull blow to the back of her head. Her head starting paining and when she touched the back of her head, she felt blood. She felt darkness take over but the last image in front of her before she fell unconscious was Maan hitting Brij and Khushi kneeling beside her with tears in her eyes.
Maan was fighting one of few men left standing when he heard Khushi shout Geet's name. He turned around in astonishment and he felt terror enter his heart as Geet raised her hand from behind her head and blood dripped from her hand. He turned back and hit the man in front of him with all his might and ran towards Geet without looking whether the man he hit was subdued or not. Luckily for him, the man was hit by such a force that he had fainted. Maan rushed towards Geet as the main kidnapper tried to grab Geet while bending down. Maan pulled the man away from the girls and starting hitting him with all his might.
Khushi looked in distress as Brij pushed Geet down. Khushi's eyes widened as Geet's head hit a rock and she shouted, "GEETTT!" She fell down on her knees as Geet touched the back of her head. Khushi went paler as she realized that Geet's hand was dripping with blood. Suddenly, she saw Brij bend in front of her to grab Geet. Before she could do something, Maan had arrived and dragged Brij away. He started smashing Brij with bare hands while Khushi cradled Geet's head and tried to make her stay awake. But Geet had already fainted.
Arjun and Dev looked around as all the men with the kidnapper were fallen to the ground. They turned around looking for their Maan Bro when they found him smashing a man into pulp. They ran towards Maan and tried to pull him away but Maan refused to stop or move. Arjun spoke, "Bro chod do use! Mar jaayega!" Maan shurrged him, "Mar gaya toh mar jaane do! I don't care!" Dev grabbed Maan from behind, "Bro Uske liye na sahi par Bhabhi ke liye ruk jaao! Woh nahi chaahegi ki aap kisiko maar daalo." Maan stilled in mid punch as the words reached his brain and he looked at Dev in pain. Dev nodded and Maan let the man away. The man was already unconscious by then. Suddenly, there was siren around and soon the police arrived. The Inspector inquired as to who had called him. Lavanya replied and explained the situation as no one else seemed in the right mind to speak. As soon as her explanation ended, the police men took the kidnapper and his men in custody and right behind them the ambulance arrived. Soon, Anjali, Arnav, Geet and Naaniji were loaded on stretcher and taken to the hospital while the remaining family followed them in the family cars.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING WORDS!
First and foremost, I will update next only on next week's Thursday because while my wrist pain went away on Saturday Night, it came back today morning because yesterday I did not use the wrist brace. Now I have to wear the wrist brace constantly or else my wrist pains. So I can't type faster and hence, the update will once in 10 days till my wrist gets strong.
Secondly, many readers asked me why Khushi acted so weirdly to Arnav's proposal. While explanation is not necessary I just felt that I should explain once. Khushi wanted to say yes to Arnav's proposal but then she was reminded of her family. Now you tell me how would a father or a mother feel when they allow their daughter to be without restrictions and the said daughter gets engaged when the parents don't even know she was seeing somebody? Won't they feel she has broken their trust? The reason I think like this is while I am lot more modern than Khushi, she and I have the same type of bond with our parents and my parents would reacted the same way her parents would have reacted to such news. They would have felt betrayed and they would have told me that I have disabused the freedom they gave me. Hence, the thought of her parents' reaction stopped her from saying yes. Plus, when she fell in love, her idea was that Arnav will say I love you and then she will tell her family while he will tell his family and then there will be formal mooh dikhaai and then engagement. She did not expect this western style engagement. And hence, she was also shell shocked. And also how do you think Paayal and Aakash would have felt when Arnav would have announced that he is engaged on their engagement day. While those two are sweet people and would not have minded, Khushi surely would have felt bad and that's why she stilled from accepting the proposal. Now you must be thinking why she did not tell all this to Arnav? Simple, she does not know in what way to tell Arnav without offending them. And please remember that Khushi has seen Arnav's rakshas avatar and romantic avatar. She has not seen the way he interacts with his family. She thinks of him as selfish and demanding so she does not think that he will accept her request of keeping quiet till she tells her parents. That is why I always say Arnav will rue the day he hid his identity. Sach bola hota toh Khushi would have seen him interact with his family and realized that he is not that selfish and would have explained the matter to him. And as to why Arnav reacted in such a manner, it was totally an in character reaction, atleast the character which I have shown you till now.
