Teaser..for part 5.
.
The lacy window curtains fluttered in the breeze as Arnab led Khushi to one end of the library and asked her to sit down on a chair. Pale winter sunshine streamed in and reflected off a large brass horn resting over a gleaming teak box.
"What's that?, Khushi asked with her eyes wide with curiosity.
"Wait and see", said Arnab as much to Khushi's interest, he began to wind a metallic crank jutting out from one side of the wooden box.
"Is it a toy?, persisted Khushi with a touch of impatience in her childish voice..
"Just wait..", said Arnab, before coming to sit next to her.
As the first high pitched sounds emanated from the odd looking contraption, Khushi jumped and clutched Arnab's arm tightly, her eyes filled with fear.
Arnab looked down at her face chuckling softly and much to Khushi's delight and absolute wonder, the first notes of beautiful music started wafting from it's direction..
"It's a singing machine that Pranab told me about...", she whispered...
Listening to a song together, Arnab glanced down at her hand still clutching his arm and sighed..
He made no attempt to remove it...
"A touch of sweetness in the breeze
That softly cradles buds today
A winding stream that gently gurgles
In its happy course at play
The cuckoo sings in trees and gardens
My absent heart does not know why
It's absolutely borne away.."
(By RN Tagore...this song was in Satyajit Ray's Charulatha..)
Coming up on Friday,
Love you all,
Jenny:)
