I went to a desi DVD store with my dad today and literally there was a section just for SRK films. Like.. "New Releases" "Classics" "Shah Rukh Khan" ... He's so popular overseases, it's crazy! 😆

Chennai Express Has Solid Start To Second Week

Chennai Express had a solid start to its second week as it grossed around 5.50 crore nett on Friday. The drop is there as the business was huge in the first week but a 5.50 crore nett figure on the second Friday is very good if compared with what other big films have done on their second Fridays.

The film even managed to beat the business of Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobara in some circuits despite it being in its second week week and Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobara having its second day.

The figures were higher for Chennai Express in West Bengal, Nizam/Andhra, Mysore and Tamil Nadu/Kerala. Chennai Express should show solid growth on Saturday and Sunday and will easily go over 20 crore nett for the weekend.

Hahah I remember going to Blockbuster back in the days..the only Hindi movies there used to be SRK ones. 😆

Chennai Express good run at box office continued on 2nd week also. It has collected around 5.5-5.75 crore nett on 2nd Friday which is pretty decent considering the huge first week and reduced screen size on Friday. Collections look even prettier when one considers that CE is into 2nd Friday which is a working day.

Chennai Express total collection now stands at approx 160.7 crore nett. Now lifetime record of 3 Idiots looks really in danger. Film has registered an occupancy of around 35-40% on 2nd Friday which is decent considering it is the 8th day of release. Also, there is OUATIMD with which CE has to fight it out.

CE has become a mega blockbuster in first week itself. Film is just an unstoppable train right now. It should show decent jump on 2nd weekend and will aim for a 18-20 crore nett weekend, which will be pretty good considering already a huge chunk of audiences have already watched the flick.

Collection Breakup -

Thursday (Paid Preview) - 6.5 crore nett.

Friday - 33.1 crore nett.

Saturday - 28.05 crore nett.

Sunday - 32.5 crore nett.
Monday - 12.37 crore nett.

Tuesday - 11.04 crore nett.
Wednesday - 12.27 crore nett.
Thursday - 19.1 crore nett.

2nd Friday - 5.5-5.75 crore nett (Estimates).

Total - 160.68 crore nett (approx).
